21 Chapter 21 Let her go!

Elias’s pov:

I lay in the dim glow of my bedroom, the moon casting silver slivers through the curtains mocked my inability to find peace.

Sleep had become a distant memory these past nights, ever since Darius had laid out the damning evidence in my study.

Naomi, the omega whose scent haunted my every breath was the daughter of Harlan, the scheming bastard who’d orchestrated the ambush that left my parents slaughtered

in their own home.

Their blood still stained my nightmares: my mother’s throat torn open, my father’s body riddled with silverlaced bullets. Harlan had pulled the strings from the shadows, using his rival pack to do the dirty work, all for territory and power.

And now, his blood ran through her veins.

How could I have been so blind? The mate bond had hit me like a thunderbolt that night three years ago, her floral scent wrapping around my alpha instincts, demanding I claim her and protect her.

Even now, with her locked away in the guest wing, that pull gnawed at me, a visceral ache in my chest, urging me to go to her, to bury my face in her neck and let her soft curves soothe the rage.

But Darius’s words echoed relentlessly: She’s a Hale, Elias. Blood doesn’t lie. She could be playing you, waiting to strike like her father.”

Could she? Naomi, with her wide eyes and trembling pleas, harming me? The thought twisted like a knife. I’d seen her vulnerability, felt her body yield under mine, but what if it was all a facade?

A calculated seduction to infiltrate my pack, just as Harlan had done to my family.

I rolled out of bed, pacing the room like a caged wolf, my bare feet silent on the plush carpet. The clock read 3 a.m.another sleepless vigil.

Vengeance screamed in my blood: make her pay, break her as her father had broken me. Strip away her freedoms, use her heat against her until she begged for mercy. But desire whispered back, insidious and warm, painting visions of her as my true mate,

laughing in my arms, bearing my pups, her scent mingling with mine in eternal bond.

The war inside me raged, leaving me hollow, unsure. Kill her? Banish her? Or worse, forgive and claim her, risking everything?

By dawn, exhaustion clawed at me, but I dressed in my tailored suit, the armor of the alpha king. I avoided the dining hall where breakfast waited, her presence a ghost I couldn’t face.

Instead, I made my way towards the waiting car as my phone rang. I picked it up as I entered the driver’s seat.

Hello?

Sir, the meeting is scheduled in a private club. The place seems a bit off. What should I do?My assistant asked nervously.

I sighed. I hate places like them. But work is work.

It’s fine. Prepare everything before we go there.

Naomi’s pov:

Here you go, Mike. On the house for being my favorite noncreep,I said with a forced smile, sliding the frothy glass his way.

He chuckled, raising it in thanks, and I turned to restock the napkins, my omega senses on high alert as always. In a place like this, you learned to spot trouble before it spotted you- the alphas who eyed you like prey, their scents sharpening with interest. But tonight felt off.

The door swung open with a jingle, letting in a gust of cool night air, and in lumbered a massive alpha I’d never seen before. Burly as a bear, with a scruffy beard and eyes glazed from whatever he’d been pounding before arriving. His scent hit me like a wall- boozy, aggressive, laced with that entitled alpha dominance that made my stomach

churn.

He lumbered up to the bar, slamming a meaty fist down hard enough to rattle the glasses.

Whiskey, neat. And make it quick, sweetheart. His voice was a gravelly slur, his gaze raking over me like I was on the menu. I nodded curtly, pouring the drink without meeting his eyes, sliding it over. That’ll be eight bucks.

He snatched it, downing half in one gulp, then leaned in closer, his breath hot and foul. You know, omegas like you shouldn’t be hiding behind a bar. You’re meant for better thingspleasing alphas, spreading those pretty legs.

His hand shot out, groping my ass through my jeans, fingers digging in painfully. I yelped, twisting away, my heart slamming against my ribs.

Get your hands off me!I snapped, shoving at his chest with all my strength. He barely budged, laughinga deep, mocking rumble that drew a few heads turning our way. Bar rules: no touching the staff. Pay up and leave, or I’ll call security.”
