22 Chapter 22 Tell me to stop
A roar shattered the tension, primal and furious, like thunder cracking through the room. The door burst open again, and Elias was there, my nightmare incarnate, moving like a shadow unleashed. He crossed the bar in three strides, his alpha aura exploding outward, thick and suffocating, making everyone freeze.
The assailant barely had time to turn before Elias tackled him, the impact sending both crashing to the floor in a tangle of limbs and overturned stools.
“Get your filthy hands off her!” Elias bellowed, his voice a guttural snarl that vibrated through my bones.
The burly alpha swung wildly, but Elias was faster, stronger–his fists landing with precision, cracking against the man’s jaw, his ribs. He pinned him down, knee on his chest, and delivered a swift kick to the side that made the guy wheeze and curl up. Another kick to the gut, and the assailant crumpled, gasping, blood trickling from his split lip.
“Touch her again, and I’ll rip your throat out,” Elias growled, his eyes wild, scent spiking with possessive rage. The bar fell deathly silent, patrons backing away, some fleeing out the door as Elias’s dominance blanketed the space like a storm.
I stood frozen behind the bar, breath ragged, wrist throbbing. “Elias… what are you doing here?” I whispered, but he didn’t hear or didn’t care. He straightened, chest heaving, and turned those piercing gray eyes on me.
Before I could protest, he vaulted over the bar, seizing my arm in a grip that was firm but not bruising–not like the other guy’s. “Come with me.”
“No–wait, I have a shift-” I stammered, pulling back, but he dragged me through the crowd, ignoring my boss’s shouted questions from the back.
Patrons parted like the Red Sea, no one daring to intervene against an alpha in full fury. He kicked open the door to the private back room–a dingy storage space with shelves of liquor crates and a leather sofa shoved against the wall. He hurled me inside, the door slamming shut behind us, locking with a click that echoed like a cage closing.
I stumbled onto the sofa, the cushions sagging under me, heart pounding from the assault and now from him. Elias towered over me, his broad frame blocking the light, muscles tense under his shirt, veins bulging in his neck. His scent enveloped me,

smoky cedar, dark and primal, stirring that unwanted calm in my core even as fear twisted my gut.
“What the hell were you thinking?” he snarled, pacing like a caged wolf. “Working in a shithole like this, letting scum like that near you? You’re mine, Naomi. Not some bar slut for every alpha to paw at. How dare you let another filthy bastard touch you?”
I scrambled upright, rubbing my wrist, anger flaring hot to match his. “I don’t belong to you and I was handling it!”
“Handling it?” He laughed, cold and bitter, stepping closer until his knees bumped the sofa, forcing me to crane my neck. “He had you by the throat. One more second, and he’d have marked you or worse. You think your ‘bar rules‘ mean shit to alphas like that? You’re an omega, Naomi. Weak but extremely tempting. Without me, you’re nothing but prey.”
Tears stung my eyes, humiliation mixing with the adrenaline crash. “I’m not weak! I survived before you. Why can’t you just leave me alone?”
He leaned down, hands slamming onto the sofa arms on either side of me, caging me in. His face was inches from mine, breath hot against my lips, eyes blazing with a mix of fury and something darker–hunger.
“Because you can’t stay away either. Don’t forget that it was you who begged me to fuck you and not the other way.”
His gaze dropped to my chest, where my nipples had hardened under my shirt, betraying me. Damn omega biology.
I shoved at his chest, but it was like pushing a wall. “Get off me! You’re no better than him–dragging me around like property.”
His growl rumbled low, vibrating through me, and one hand shot out to grip my chin, tilting my face up. “No better? I saved your ass. And now, you’re going to show some gratitude.”
The tension crackled, electric and dangerous, his body heat seeping into me, stirring flickers of that reluctant desire. I hated him–hated the pull, the way his proximity dulled my resistance. But as he hovered there, eyes locked on mine, the room felt smaller, the air thicker, setting the stage for whatever explosion was coming next.
He released my chin, but didn’t back away, his fingers trailing down my neck, lingering on my pulse.
