Lilith’s expression changed. She glanced at Gideon, saw him frowning at Aria, and then, biting her lip, she completely humbled herself, practically groveling in front of Aria.
“Aria, it’s all my fault, everything is my fault. Please, just let Flora go…”
“Aria! Don’t you dare go too far!”
Charles reached out and pulled Lilith to her feet, his voice as cold as ice.
“Aren’t you afraid of a little karma?”
“Aria, this time you’ve gone too far.”
Gideon looked at Aria, his eyes filled with disappointment.
He’d always thought Aria was just petty and insecure, prone to jealousy whenever he was close to Lilith.
But he never imagined she could be so cruel as to make Lilith kneel!
“Charles, if it will make Aria let Flora go, I’m willing to…”
“No need to beg her. The police will be here any minute.”
Charles looked at Aria and said, enunciating every word, “The police are coming to arrest you.”
After he spoke, he watched Aria’s face, searching for any hint of panic, but there was none.
She remained perfectly calm from start to finish.
Just then, the auction reached the necklace Aria had her eye on.
Her attention was drawn to it, and she looked at Gideon. “Weren’t you going to get it for me? Go on, buy it.”
She then looked at Charles, noting his displeased expression, and a smile touched her lips. “Including that fragmented scroll. I want that too.”
“Will you buy them for me, Gideon?”
Gideon’s brow was tightly furrowed. He never thought Aria would be so unfazed. Did she think that because she was pregnant, the police couldn’t detain her?
He could get her out if he wanted to, but the bullying was now a confirmed fact.
“If you maintain this attitude, I won’t buy you anything.”
Aria felt a sense of calm.
She had expected as much. She truly felt like she was wasting her time here.
Aria stood up. “What a waste of my time.”
