Lilith was in disbelief. “What mother? Is Aria pregnant?”
Gideon reacted quickly. “It’s precisely because she’s not pregnant that she doesn’t deserve to be a mother.”
If Lilith found out Aria was pregnant, the Rowan family would inevitably learn about the cord blood.
He was sure he could find Dawn to save Lilith, even without the cord blood, so there was no need to tell Lilith about Aria’s pregnancy.
It was better for both her and Aria.
Listening to Gideon, Lilith understood that Aria hadn’t told him about the pregnancy yet.
She didn’t want to use the cord blood to save someone, and Lilith didn’t want to use Aria’s cord blood either.
It was better this way. Once she got rid of that baby, she'd see what tricks Aria had left to keep Gideon entangled!
“Gideon, don’t say that…” Lilith bit her lip. “You’ll hurt Aria’s feelings.”
“Aria, even now Lilith is defending you, yet you remain so ungrateful. Apologize to her at once!”
Aria quickly wiped the moisture from the corner of her eye, not letting anyone see her emotions.
If it weren’t for the auction items, she would have already turned around and left.
“I came here to buy things, not to apologize.”
“If you don’t apologize, I won’t buy you a single thing.”
Aria gritted her teeth.
Of course. In Gideon’s eyes, she had to be obedient before he would bestow upon her some trinket he considered insignificant.
Aria felt like she must have been out of her mind to think Gideon could actually help her.
Now, it was clear she was just wasting her time.
With that thought, Aria stood up. “Fine, I won’t buy anything. I’m leaving.”
“Stay right there!” Gideon quickly grabbed Aria’s hand. “I’m just asking you to apologize to Lilith. What more do you want?”
If he really wanted to press the issue, Aria, as the bully, wouldn’t be standing here unscathed.
