Lilith was in disbelief. “What mother? Is Aria pregnant?”
Gideon reacted quickly. “It’s precisely because she’s not pregnant that she doesn’t deserve to be a mother.”
If Lilith found out Aria was pregnant, the Rowan family would inevitably learn about the cord blood.
He was sure he could find Dawn to save Lilith, even without the cord blood, so there was no need to tell Lilith about Aria’s pregnancy.
It was better for both her and Aria.
Listening to Gideon, Lilith understood that Aria hadn’t told him about the pregnancy yet.
She didn’t want to use the cord blood to save someone, and Lilith didn’t want to use Aria’s cord blood either.
It was better this way. Once she got rid of that baby, she'd see what tricks Aria had left to keep Gideon entangled!
“Gideon, don’t say that…” Lilith bit her lip. “You’ll hurt Aria’s feelings.”
“Aria, even now Lilith is defending you, yet you remain so ungrateful. Apologize to her at once!”
Aria quickly wiped the moisture from the corner of her eye, not letting anyone see her emotions.
If it weren’t for the auction items, she would have already turned around and left.
“I came here to buy things, not to apologize.”
“If you don’t apologize, I won’t buy you a single thing.”
Aria gritted her teeth.
Of course. In Gideon’s eyes, she had to be obedient before he would bestow upon her some trinket he considered insignificant.
Aria felt like she must have been out of her mind to think Gideon could actually help her.
Now, it was clear she was just wasting her time.
With that thought, Aria stood up. “Fine, I won’t buy anything. I’m leaving.”
“Stay right there!” Gideon quickly grabbed Aria’s hand. “I’m just asking you to apologize to Lilith. What more do you want?”
If he really wanted to press the issue, Aria, as the bully, wouldn’t be standing here unscathed.
[Lawyer: It’s been approved. Ms. Keene can be bailed out shortly. Also, I’m turning the evidence over to the police now. If things move quickly, we can have Ms. Rowan arrested soon.]
Charles raised an eyebrow and sent his location to the lawyer. [She’s here right now. Make it fast.]
If Aria was going to be arrested, then she couldn’t leave.
Charles also wanted to see if Gideon could really stand by and watch Aria be taken away.
If all he wanted was the cord blood to save a life, he probably wouldn’t care what happened to Aria, right?
As long as the baby was safe, that's all that mattered.
“Let her go?” Aria scoffed. “Are you asking me for a favor? If you’re going to ask, shouldn’t you at least be sincere about it? This isn’t asking.”
She wasn’t afraid of what Gideon would do to her now.
After all, she was “pregnant.” If anything happened, the cord blood he so desperately needed would be gone.
“Grovel, and I might consider it.”
