Even at a time like this, Aria was still acting tough.
A flash of anger ignited in Flora, but thinking about Aria's situation, an idea quickly formed in her mind.
Isn't Aria pregnant?
A miscarriage caused by the stress of being in a holding cell would seem perfectly plausible, right?
She could use this to make the Evernight family abandon Aria completely.
Besides, Lilith had said she wouldn't want the umbilical cord blood from Aria's baby anyway.
But what she'd actually said was that she didn't want Gideon and Aria to have a child together. If…
After Aria miscarried, she got pregnant with a child that wasn't Gideon's?
Any man would do. As long as it wasn't Charles or Gideon, Lilith could be saved.
After Aria miscarried, the Evernight family would surely blame her and eventually force her out with nothing!
With this in mind, Flora managed to hold her tongue and left, phone in hand.
With enough money, you could buy any connection.

The lawyer waited a while, but seeing that Aria had no intention of backing down, he was about to try persuading her again when another officer walked in.
“Aria, come with me!” His movements were rough as he yanked Aria straight out of the chair.
The lawyer's heart skipped a beat. Aria had already been interrogated once; she wouldn't be questioned a second time so soon, and certainly not treated so roughly.
Although he was on a mission for Gideon, he also admired Aria.
“Officer, what are you doing?”
“Routine questioning of a criminal!”
Aria was hauled to her feet.
From her time working at Gideon's company, she had dealt with legal matters before; she knew the procedures.
“I haven't confessed to anything. What right do you have to call me a criminal? At most, I'm a suspect. I was just interrogated. What you're doing is completely against regulations!”
The officer was surprised that Aria knew the rules, but he quickly came up with an excuse.
“We have new evidence! You'd better confess!”
Aria glanced at the body camera on his chest. The red light wasn't blinking. Police were required to have their cameras on when on duty.
“Release her at once! Arresting someone without any evidence! If anything happens to Mrs. Evernight, can you take responsibility?!”
The officer holding Aria knew this was getting complicated and quickly let go, trying to slip away.
But Aria wouldn't let him off that easily.
She reacted instantly, reaching out and tearing off the man's badge number. “This man was just about to use unauthorized force on me!”
The assistant's face changed, and a wave of fear washed over him.
Of course, he knew Aria was pregnant.
If he had been one step later and Aria had been taken away, the moment something happened to the baby, the old man would have started settling scores.
The old man had mellowed with age, his methods less ruthless.
But years ago, when he was working for the old man, he had witnessed his fury firsthand.
He didn't know the reason, but he knew that overnight, an entire family had vanished as if from the face of the earth—bankrupt and missing.
Their whereabouts were still unknown.
“Mrs. Evernight, I will handle this matter.” The assistant's tone became even more respectful. “The old master is waiting for you outside.”
