After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 120

Most were from Roxanne.

There were also a few from Charles.

They were probably all about Lilith.

“Mrs. Evernight, Mrs. Rowan is here.” A maid knocked softly on the door. “Would you like to come out now?”

She actually came straight to the Evernight estate.

Aria didn't want to go out, but then she remembered the house was still in Roxanne's name, so she decided she had to.

“I'll be right out.”

She had come to the estate in a hurry and didn't have a change of clothes.

“Ma'am, your clothes have been placed by the door,” the maid said.

Clothes?

Who prepared them?

Aria opened the door.

The maid handed Aria an exquisitely made dress. “Mr. Raphael asked us to prepare this for you.”

Raphael?

Aria was a little surprised.

She hadn't expected him to be so thoughtful.

She checked the size; it was right for her.

Aria changed into the dress and sent Raphael a message.

[Aria: Thank you.]

Raphael replied quickly.

[Raphael: No problem.]

When she went downstairs, Roxanne was standing next to an elderly woman, talking with Aldous Evernight.

Aria recognized her—it was Charles's mother, Helena.

Aria frowned instinctively.

She hadn't seen Helena in several years. Mostly, she would try to visit during the holidays, but she couldn't even get past the Brent family's door.

She looked older and more frail than the elegant lady Aria remembered.

“I have nothing to say,” Aria said. “Whether they're having an affair or not isn't for me to decide.”

When elders were speaking, the younger generation generally wasn't supposed to interrupt.

So after speaking, Aria obediently fell silent again.

Helena turned her aim on Aria. “I heard that when Lilith was initially misdiagnosed, you realized it. Why didn't you say anything?”

Even though she already knew why Helena was here, Aria's heart still felt a sharp sting.

After all, for those fifteen years, Helena had been genuinely good to her. She had craved that warmth, which was why she tried to visit the Brent family every holiday.

Now, Aria understood that the bond between them had truly been severed when she was fifteen.

“I did say something. It's just that no one believed me.” Aria replied with calm confidence. “I refuse to be the scapegoat for this now. It wasn't my fault.”
