Eveline scoffed. “Even if Aria didn’t drug the drink, that doesn’t make her a good woman.”
Aria refused to back down. “Then is Gideon a good man in your eyes? Doting on Lilith like that. Is he planning on cheating, or just trying to seduce another woman?”
“That’s because Gideon has charisma! Unlike you…”
“That’s enough. I come out and all I hear is you two arguing. What is there to argue about!”
Aldous Evernight emerged, leaning on his cane. His gaze fell on Aria, and his eyes softened with a newfound affection.
“Aria, I know now that you were wronged. You’ve suffered these past three years.”
Aldous handed Aria a contract. “This is for one percent of the Evernight Group’s shares. I’m giving it to you as compensation. No strings attached.”
He had offered her a share contract before, but it came with other conditions, which Aria had refused.
This time, he was determined to compensate her properly.
Under Eveline’s murderous glare, Aria carefully read the contract and then accepted it with a clear conscience.
“Thank you, Grandpa.”
Although it was only one percent, the Evernight Group was massive, so the compensation was indeed sincere.
It was what she deserved.
Eveline’s eyes darted between the three of them, still unable to believe the patriarch had just given away shares like that.
She had been married into the Evernight family for so many years and only had five percent of the shares!
On what grounds did Aria deserve this?
“Dad, we both provided heirs for the Evernight family, and we don’t even know if Aria’s child is a boy… You’re playing favorites, aren't you?”
Aldous glanced at Eveline. “The Evernight family has never treated you unfairly.”
Eveline didn’t dare say another word and left in a silent huff.
After returning to her room, she immediately called Gideon.
