"Ms. Rowan, what proof do you have that you are Sylvia's daughter?"
Aria's expression shifted. What more proof did she need?
The woman had been gone for over a decade. Even a DNA test would be impossible now, wouldn't it?
Besides, the Rowan family had already confirmed the mix-up at birth, so how could she not be Sylvia's daughter?
"Aria, you have no evidence to prove you and Ms. Sterling are mother and daughter. Therefore, this house does not belong to you."
Hearing Gideon refer to Sylvia as "Ms. Sterling," Roxanne looked over at him.
Ms. Sterling?
Right, she had heard that Gideon and Lilith went to the same school. They knew each other, practically childhood sweethearts. It made sense that he would have met her parents.
Aria calmed herself. "Is that all you came here to say?"
The only person who could command Gideon was likely Lilith.
Aria hadn't relented and gotten Harold released, which in turn cost Lilith a house. How could Lilith possibly let it go?
"You never met Ms. Sterling. You don't know how important this house is to Lilith."
In Gideon's memory, Sylvia was a very gentle woman.
The mother and daughter had been very close.
But when the Brent family got into trouble, Lilith had to offer this house to Aria to save Harold.
When he had gone to the hospital room, he saw Lilith crying while looking at an old photograph of Ms. Sterling.
Thinking about Lilith's illness, he knew she didn't have much time left.
They say one should respect the wishes of the deceased, and Gideon didn't want Lilith to have any regrets before she died.
"Aria, I can compensate you with a new house. Just give this one back to Lilith."
Or perhaps, after Lilith passed away... the house would still return to Aria's possession.
