Aria wasn't a fool. If she couldn't even speak up, wouldn't she just be letting the Rowan family twist the truth as they pleased?
Besides, she had always kept a low profile in the Rowan family. Once she walked out that door, who would ever connect her to them?
On the other hand, Nathan and Roxanne occasionally made public appearances at charity galas. The chances of them being recognized were far greater than hers.
If they genuinely wanted to resolve this properly, there would have been no need to issue a statement. After all, with the Brent family's public tantrum, who didn't know she had already been cast out by the Rowans?
"Impossible," Aria said, her tone resolute. "I'm not negotiating with you. I'm informing you. You have only these two options."
Aria tapped the contract. "I'll give you one minute to think it over."
In truth, she didn't want to give them even that one minute.
As soon as she finished speaking, Aria stood up and made a call. "Is this Mr. Dalton? I'd like to retain your services for a lawsuit, as soon as possible..."
"Fine, we'll sign!"
Nathan strode forward and grabbed Aria's phone.
He cared about his reputation more than anything; he couldn't afford this kind of public humiliation.
Seeing Aria's current demeanor, it was clear she knew he would cave.
In his memory, Aria was still the little girl in the family who didn't even dare to meet his gaze. Now, in the blink of an eye, she dared to challenge him.
"Aria, you think marrying into the Evernight family means you're set for life, don't you? Let me tell you, without the Rowan family name, you are nothing. You don't deserve the Evernights."
"You're nothing but a bastard with no standing. You think you can change your life by marrying up? You leeched off the Rowan family as a child, and now you're going to leech off the Evernight family. You really are an unappreciative parasite!"
Nathan turned and signed his name, but Roxanne still hesitated.
"Nathan, no matter what, Aria is still your child. If we kick her out, Sylvia..."
"Don't mention that bitch!" Nathan sneered. "Someone like that isn't worthy of your sympathy. Since Aria refuses to acknowledge us, then let her get lost. For the rest of her life, she'll be a bastard child who was never properly raised!"
Roxanne seemed frightened by Nathan's words and glanced quickly at Aria. "Aria, your father is just furious. Don't take it to heart."
