Aria was quite surprised that Aldous was thinking of her at a time like this.
But on second thought, she realized he was only concerned about her because she was pregnant.
If she weren't pregnant, this issue would probably have been handled just like before—by turning a blind eye.
Gideon's voice was a bit grim. "Yes, Grandfather."
Since Aldous Evernight had spoken, Gideon probably wouldn't try any more tricks.
Aria took out the deed and checked her documents again. "There's no time to waste. Let's go now."
It was only three-thirty in the afternoon, so there was plenty of time.
Gideon asked, "Didn't you say you were tired?"
"Suddenly, I'm not," Aria said, heading for the door. "My car is still with the valet and I haven't gotten it back. Should we have the driver take us, or are you driving?"
"I'll drive."
Gideon followed her.
How could he not understand her underlying meaning?
Aria wasn't tired or sleepy; she simply didn't want to interact with him.
And he, surprisingly, couldn't stand being ignored by her like this.
"Sit in the passenger seat," Gideon said, holding the car door. "Don't treat me like a chauffeur."
Aria didn't care either way and got into the passenger seat.
The clinical trials for GJ101 was about to begin. She had been focusing all her energy on the current phase of the study, but thankfully, that was wrapping up soon.
She planned to work overtime to solve the antidote problem before the new trial started.
After sending a few voice messages to Mira to ask about the current progress, Aria reviewed a few documents on her phone, getting a general idea of the situation.
Gideon's gaze drifted unconsciously toward Aria.
She was so serious when she worked, her expression a mix of composure and confidence, as if nothing could ever stump her.
Gideon coughed lightly a few times, instinctively glancing at Aria again.
In the past, Aria would have immediately looked up to check on him.
