After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 182

Lilith was murmuring to a photo of Sylvia.

When she saw Gideon and Aria arrive together, her expression twisted for a moment before she quickly lowered her head to wipe away her tears.

"Aria, Gideon, what are you doing here?"

Gideon gave Aria a gentle push. "Can you really bear to see Lilith so upset?"

Aria found this utterly baffling.

What did Lilith's sadness have to do with her?

When she was sad, she didn't see Gideon trying to guilt-trip Lilith.

"Seeing her sad makes you sad, too?" Aria raised an eyebrow. "Then go ahead and cry. I'm not stopping you."

"Aria," Gideon's tone hardened slightly. "I didn't bring you here to argue with Lilith."

"Since Grandfather is planning to formally welcome you into the family next week, it means he acknowledges you as an Evernight. And since Lilith and I have a purely platonic relationship, there's no need for you to be so hostile."

So, Gideon brought her here just to convince her they were innocent?

"Pfft—sorry about that." Aria couldn't hold back a laugh and quickly covered her mouth. "It's not that I don't believe you. Haha."

Listening to Gideon's words, Lilith's face grew paler and paler.

If Aria was formally accepted by the Evernight family, Gideon would never be able to divorce her.

She couldn't accept that Aria had stolen her life and was now living so prosperously.

"Aria, there's really nothing between Gideon and me," Lilith said softly, biting her lip. "He’s like a brother to me.. Besides, the person Gideon likes is actually..."

"Lilith," Gideon cut her off in a calm voice. "Have you been resting well today?"

Lilith blinked, then shot a quick, guilty glance at Gideon. "I'm sorry..."

Aria raised an eyebrow.

Lilith's pupils constricted, and her hands, hidden beneath her hospital gown, clenched unconsciously.

Whether she needed it or not was a completely different matter from whether Gideon was willing to give it!

Could it be that Gideon had fallen in love with Aria? That he genuinely wanted to live with her?

No, she couldn't accept that!

Lilith forced a smile. "Aria, the house my mom left me is very important to me..."

"But Grandfather already promised it to me," Aria said. "Gideon, what do you think?"

Gideon hesitated. "About the house..."

Aria touched her stomach. Though she was speaking to Gideon, her gaze kept drifting toward Lilith.

"I was planning to give the house to the baby. It's not worth much, but it belonged to their grandmother, so it would be a nice welcoming gift. Don't you think so, Lilith?"
