After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 202

Otherwise, why would he suddenly bring up her medicinal tonics?

And Aldous Evernight's complete one-eighty in attitude only confirmed Aria’s suspicions.

Gideon didn't realize he was wrong; he realized he was dying.

“Out of respect for your age, I’ve been calling you Grandfather, but are you starting to think you're my actual grandfather? Gideon forced me to give Lilith blood transfusions while I was pregnant. Are you telling me you knew nothing about that?”

“And don't try to pin this all on Lilith again. She was wrong, but is Gideon blameless? Was anything he did even human?”

“Forget taking care of him for three more years. Just the thought of seeing him once makes me sick to my stomach!”

If Aldous truly felt that Gideon had wronged her, he wouldn't have come to bother her right after she woke up from surgery.

And bringing up her past feelings for Gideon…

Back then, she must have been blind to have fallen for a man like him.

Now, her eyes were wide open. She saw Gideon for what he was: a monster in a tailored suit.

She couldn't wait to get away from him.

Hearing Aria’s merciless words, the pleading expression on Aldous Evernight's face vanished.

“Aria, when you married Gideon, you accepted a hundred million dollar marriage settlement from the Evernight family. Do you think you can just walk away after only three years? The moment you and Gideon divorce, I will have my lawyers file a lawsuit against you for fraud!”

A hundred million dollars?!

Aria’s eyes widened.

Who took a hundred million dollars from the Evernight family?

Her?

Aria couldn’t even come up with thirty million. If she really had a hundred million, would she be in this mess?

“If I ever touched a single cent of that money, you can call me a liar to my face!”

Raphael lowered his gaze, hiding his own suspicions as he stepped forward to support Aldous.

“Father, Aria is innocent in this. She was likely set up. She just had surgery, so let’s allow her to rest and recover.”

“She gets to recover, but what about Gideon?!” Aldous sighed heavily, his words clearly meant for Aria to hear. “Gideon is still unconscious, muttering Aria’s name over and over, yet she’s this heartless! She won’t even go see him!”

“Sir, I just had surgery. I just woke up, too. I’m stuck in this bed, unable to move. By your logic, if Gideon loves me so much, why doesn’t he crawl over here to see me?”

It was just as she’d thought. Something was wrong with Gideon’s health, and Aldous was panicking.

Otherwise, he’d be by Gideon’s side right now, not worrying about whether she lived or died.

Since the Evernight family had been so cruel and unjust to her, Aria wasn't about to be soft-hearted.

“Gideon and I are in the waiting period for our divorce. If you want to sue Roxanne, go ahead. I don’t care. From this day forward, nothing to do with Gideon is my concern.”

“Whether he lives or dies, I don't care. As long as he doesn’t die in front of me. I'd feel disgusted just looking at him.”
