After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 247

Aria thought she heard her name and glanced toward Bradley, but then figured she must have misheard.

Seeing Bradley's smiling face, she doubted he could be talking about her. After all, their recent interaction had been anything but pleasant.

Aria followed the police's instructions, answered another round of questions, and then finally left the station.

Roxanne had dark circles under her eyes, a clear sign of a sleepless night.

"Ivy, I used to hear Lilith talk about you all the time. I never imagined we'd meet under circumstances like this."

As Roxanne spoke, her eyes welled up with tears again.

Bradley supported Roxanne, a lump forming in his own throat.

"Lilith and I were always in touch, but she never told me how bad things were. If she had, I would have flown back here in a heartbeat..."

Flora, also holding Roxanne's arm, spoke through her sobs.

"Roxanne, Lilith was my best friend. Don't worry, I'll take good care of you for her!"

Aria wheeled herself along the road, all alone.

Charles felt a pang of unease.

Aria had no one by her side. He didn't actually believe she was capable of something like this, but Roxanne couldn't accept Lilith's death.

She needed a target to keep herself going.

Charles couldn't say much, so he just quickened his pace to walk alongside Aria.

"Aria, how are you getting back?"

It was six in the morning, and Aria had been up almost all night. She had already called a cab online.

But she would probably have to lift the wheelchair in and out of the car by herself.

"It's none of your business."

"Let me give you a ride," Charles said, reaching out to take hold of her wheelchair. "It must be inconvenient for you to get a taxi alone."

When Flora saw Charles grab Aria's wheelchair, she froze.

Roxanne looked confused and followed Flora's gaze. Her eyes narrowed with suspicion.

With that, Aria maneuvered her wheelchair, shaking off Charles's hand.

"And another thing. You can guard him like he's some kind-of treasure, but to me, he's ancient history. And I don't deal in hand-me-downs."

Charles felt a sting of pain at her words.

The taxi pulled up to the curb. Aria stood, lifted her wheelchair, and placed it in the trunk.

Before she could even get into the car, a Maybach pulled up beside it.

A very familiar car.

Gideon got out, holding a woman's overcoat, and walked in Flora's direction.

Aria turned her head to look.

"Ivy, it's cold out. Your coat is a little thin."

As he spoke, Gideon draped the coat over Ivy's shoulders.
