Although Raphael still maintained the outward appearance of a refined gentleman, his tone was freezing cold. It certainly didn't feel like a warm reunion between old classmates.
Had something happened between them in the past?
"Raphael, Ivy put a lot of effort into researching your illness over the years. I heard Dawn is joining the genetic disease project, and Ivy specifically applied to join the research team."
"Are you trying to say Ivy doesn't get anything out of joining the research herself?"
That legendary surgery years ago turned the name 'Dawn' into a synonym for miracles. Now that Dawn had come out of hiding to tackle the most complex genetic disease in the world, anyone in the medical field would kill for a spot.
Even if it wasn't for Raphael, Ivy would absolutely still want to participate.
Now Bradley was deliberately framing it as a selfless act for Raphael's sake, but Raphael clearly wasn't buying it.
"Bradley, I applied to join the research for the millions of patients suffering out there, not just for Raphael."
Ivy bit her lip softly, glancing up at Raphael before speaking again.
"Raphael, have you really not moved on from what happened back then?"
Aria wasn't typically interested in other people's gossip.
But given the heavy tension in the air, trying to leave now felt awkward. She sat quietly in her wheelchair, pretending she was entirely deaf to the conversation.
Raphael noticed Aria's discomfort and spoke up.
"I know you had your reasons back then, and the matter has already been settled. You don't need to overthink it. We're meeting someone, so we'll be going now."
"Raphael, I heard Aria is Dawn's representative. If an undergraduate student can join a project of this magnitude, then Ivy is more than qualified to join as well."
"It's just that Dr. Reaves keeps avoiding us. Can you bring Ivy to meet him?"
Aria had originally planned to pursue her master's degree under Alden Reaves, but she went straight to work at Gideon's company after graduation, putting her academic career on hold.
Despite that, her actual abilities were on par with any top-tier PhD researcher.
