"How delicious can hangover broth possibly be?"
Aria sat across from him. She had also made a bit of oatmeal in the kitchen, and the rich, sweet scent wafted through the apartment.
Raphael's Adam's apple bobbed.
He rarely drank, so his tolerance was incredibly low. Drinking the hot broth really did help clear his head.
"The cooling-off period is almost over, isn't it?"
Aria nodded. "Tomorrow, Gideon and I can go to the courthouse and finalize the divorce."
Tomorrow...
Raphael took another sip of the broth. He had a strong premonition that the divorce wouldn't go smoothly tomorrow.
As a man, he knew exactly how Gideon felt about Aria.
"Gideon's first love was Ivy Wynn. She's the same age as him. She went to middle school with both him and Lilith."
Aria blinked.
She knew Gideon and Ivy acted like reunited lovers, but she had no idea the three of them shared that kind of history.
Her mouth moved faster than her brain. "What about you? What's your history with Ivy?"
"Me?" Raphael paused, then let out a low, slightly drunken laugh. "So... *this* is what you've been wanting to know all along?"
Aria felt incredibly awkward.
She didn't know what possessed her to just blurt it out.
"I was just talking nonsense, don't take it seriously. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"She was my ex-fiancée, I suppose," Raphael said casually. "Do you know why Dr. Reaves despises Ivy so much?"
"Because I had an 'accident' eight years ago. On that very day, the Wynn family called off our engagement. Nobody wants to tie their daughter to a dying man, right?"
