After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 259

He stared right into Aria's eyes as he said it, making her feel unexpectedly self-conscious.

"Uh, I made some oatmeal, you should eat a little!"

Aria quickly stood up, practically fleeing to the kitchen to scoop a bowl of oatmeal for him.

The sweet, comforting aroma filled the room.

Raphael picked up his spoon, but just as he was about to take a bite, the doorbell rang.

Aria checked the time. Ten o'clock at night.

Who would be looking for her now?

"Aria, it's me, Gideon. Can we talk?"

Gideon knocked on the door again.

He had just received the text notification from the courthouse. The cooling-off period ended tomorrow, and he didn't want a divorce.

"I know you blame me for not protecting our baby. It's my fault. Just give me a chance to make it up to you, please?

"I know you didn't abort the baby on purpose. You wanted a child too. Medical technology is so advanced now, we can always retrieve your eggs and have another baby together."

Aria's eyes turned freezing cold.

How could Gideon be so utterly shameless?

She had lost her baby, and all he could think about was finding new ways to put her body through hell.

If he had even a shred of conscience, he would be the one scheduling their courthouse appointment for tomorrow morning!

Not standing outside her door throwing a drunken tantrum in the middle of the night.

"Do you want to see him?" Raphael held his bowl, looking innocently at her. "If you open the door, will he misunderstand what's going on between us?"

"I don't want to see him. If he wants to talk to a piece of wood, let him."

Aria had absolutely no intention of opening the door.

Seeing him would only lead to a screaming match. It was better to ice him out completely.

Raphael nodded and took another slow bite of his oatmeal.

"Aria, I know you're in there. Just open the door, okay?"

Gideon hesitated.

His phone chimed twice. Two messages.

One from Aria.

[Aria: We have nothing to discuss. I'll see you at the courthouse tomorrow.]

One from Ivy.

[Ivy: Gideon, does what you said back then still count?]

Back then...

His mind flashed back to the day Ivy left the country. She had begged him to take good care of Lilith and promised to marry him when she returned.

Now, Lilith was dead. And the woman he truly loved was Aria.

[Gideon: I'm married. I love my wife very much.]

Eight years. It wasn't an eternity, but it was a long time.
