After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 275

Just as Gideon opened his mouth, Ivy's voice cut him off.

"See, Dad? You heard her. Aria used the drug on Lilith, and that's why..."

Eveline's words trailed off as Aldous shot her a glare sharp enough to draw blood, forcing her into silence.

Gideon abruptly stood up.

Because the Rowan family was treating Lilith's death with extreme scrutiny, the documentation was incredibly thorough.

Ivy highlighted the crucial details of Lilith's drug history before offering her professional assessment.

"Lilith consumed a total of 50 milligrams of the substance, and during that time, antidotes were administered to mitigate the effects. While it didn't completely flush the toxins, it significantly lowered her physical tolerance. Since 5 milligrams is the standard dose for three to five adult uses, it is absolutely enough to trigger a secondary addiction, especially in someone who had already built and then lost their tolerance."

Gideon took a deep breath.

Initially, he had firmly believed Aria wouldn't let personal grudges drive her to murder.

But Ivy's conclusion was delivered with absolute certainty.

"Grandpa, if Aria truly is a murderer, then she deserves whatever she gets."

Aldous scoffed coldly.

"If she has done something wrong, someone will punish her, but it certainly won't be you."

"I am willing to accept the family punishment."

Gideon kept his eyes on Aria as he continued.

"Since we are still married, I'm also willing to take her punishment for her."

"All I ask is that you don't force us to divorce."

Eveline was horrified. "Are you out of your mind?! She's a murderer! Why are you so obsessed with staying tied to her?!"

Taking on Aria's penalty was madness. Putting aside whether Aria even respected their family rules, the punishment for causing a death was exponentially worse than what Gideon was already facing!
