Bradley's gaze subconsciously drifted to Aria's face. Her trending topics yesterday had nearly caught his father's attention. If another incident occurred, it was only a matter of time before his father found out.
Her face was a carbon copy of Sylvia's. Anyone who knew Sylvia would instantly figure out Aria's true identity just by looking at her. That face was a liability. It couldn't remain untouched.
Ivy hadn't expected Gideon to be so ungrateful. This was cutting-edge medication from a top-tier international institute, and he was brushing it off. If it weren't for the chance to connect with Dr. Reaves, she would never have spent a fortune and called in favors to get her hands on it.
Ivy's smile turned stiff. "I understand, Gideon. I only went through the trouble of securing this to help you. At least let Dr. Reaves take a look, okay?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Gideon noticed Aria growing impatient. He nodded briefly. "Fine. I'll let him know."
Relieved, Ivy quickly ushered Bradley out of the room.
Once they were gone, Aria walked over and locked the door. She pulled a prepared contract from her bag. "Based on the company's market valuation, I'm asking for a massive payout in exchange for my half of the shares in Evercrest Prosperity Holdings. Millions of dollars. Do we have a deal?"
Evercrest was a booming publicly traded company. As the former executive secretary, Aria's asking price was completely justified.
Gideon, still confined to the bed, took the contract and read it thoroughly before speaking. "I have no objections. However..."
Aria frowned.
Gideon gestured to himself. "You can see my current condition. I accept your price, but I have one condition. You need to take command at Evercrest and stabilize the company for me. I need a few more days to recover."
Gideon transferred the funds immediately, the alert pinging on her phone. "I trust you won't scam me." He paused. "As for the money Roxanne owes, you can handle that yourself. I won't interfere."
Aria was genuinely surprised. Did nearly dying completely change his personality? He had publicly defended her yesterday, which had already caught her off guard. She had been fully prepared to post their divorce certificate herself.
"Gideon, I heard you were hospitalized. I came to see you." A knock sounded at the door, followed by Roxanne's voice.
Speak of the devil.
Roxanne pushed the door open and her voice instantly shifted from warm to shrill the second she saw Aria. "Aria, what are you doing here?"
