The call ended, leaving Aria with a seething tightness in her chest.
She couldn't let it go. Turning to Raphael in the passenger seat, she asked, "Raphael, do you want some shares?"
Gideon had never seen Raphael as a competitor because he assumed Raphael's health was failing. But now, Gideon's own health was in question, while Raphael was gradually recovering.
Aldous Evernight had always favored Raphael, and Eveline had been secretly worrying about this for a while.
On top of that, Gideon had solidified his position as a leader among small and medium-sized enterprises because of Evercrest Prosperity Holdings.
If she gave her shares to Raphael, she wanted to see if Gideon could maintain his composure. She wanted to see how he’d handle his own double standards.
Aria's lips curved into a smile. "I have half the shares of Evercrest Prosperity Holdings. If you want them, I'll sell them to you for a hundred million dollars—half of what they’re actually worth."
Raphael raised an eyebrow. "And if I don't want them, what's your plan?"
If he didn't buy them, it would indeed be complicated.
After all, everyone in the business world knew who Gideon was. Even if someone wanted to buy the shares, who could come up with a hundred million dollars in liquid cash on a whim?
"If you don't want them, I'll sell them on the open market. I don't need the money right now, so I can afford to drag this out with Gideon."
Aria felt she had been too easygoing, leading Gideon to believe he could placate her with a few simple words.
Raphael chuckled softly. "How about you give him a taste of his own medicine?"
"What do you mean?"
"I'm guessing you signed a share transfer agreement with Gideon. If you sell them to me, will he use the agreement against you?"
She had indeed signed an agreement, but... Aria had left herself a loophole.
