“The driver is waiting downstairs.”
Raphael set the oatmeal to simmer and showed the driver’s picture to Mira.
“You can head down now.”
Mira quickly got up. “Okay, Aria, I’m heading out. I’ll text you when I get home safely.”

Lilith’s funeral was a surprisingly lively affair.
The stream of guests coming and going made it feel more like a gala than a memorial service.
“Wasn’t Gideon supposed to come? Why is it just Aria? And who’s that man next to her?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never seen him before. But didn’t someone from the Evernight family already arrive? Why isn’t Aria with them?”
“Aria, what are you doing here?”
Eveline, who had been surrounded by a group of socialites showering her with fawning compliments, broke away as soon as she saw Aria, tired of the flattery.
Aria and Raphael exchanged a look.
Her main purpose for being here was to find the person who sent her that text message yesterday.
Aria subtly adjusted the corsage on her chest.
Eveline’s expression darkened when she saw Raphael with Aria. She whispered, “Your divorce from Gideon hasn’t been made public yet. You’re a young woman; you should act with a bit more decorum!”
Aria scoffed, offering Eveline no courtesy. “And Gideon acts with decorum?”
Eveline was left speechless.
“Aria, I can’t believe you actually dared to show up.”
Flora sauntered over, arm in arm with Charles.
As she stopped in front of Aria, she placed a hand on her own stomach.
“Why wouldn’t I dare? You, on the other hand, are still a suspect in Lilith’s death, which hasn't been solved yet.”
Flora just smiled, unconcerned.
