If Aria ever had a child... she'd have a smile just as beautiful, wouldn't she?
A pang of sympathy flashed in Raphael's eyes. With a slight movement of his finger, he turned off Aria's phone screen.
"If I'm Sylvia's daughter, then whose child was Lilith? And where did Roxanne's baby go?"
Aria had only heard Helena mention it once—that Roxanne's child had been born prematurely.
Sylvia, on the other hand, had carried to full term.
That was why their birthdays fell on the same day.
Otherwise, the timing would be too coincidental: Nathan has an affair, and Roxanne gets pregnant right after.
Raphael's gaze darkened. "If we can't find anything on Sylvia, it'll be much easier to find information on Lilith."
"You mean, we should focus on investigating her life before she was taken in by the Rowan family?"
Raphael nodded. "She and Gideon went to a private middle school. If Sylvia was as poor as you say, the high tuition alone would have crushed them."
"Also," he continued, "Lilith's second autopsy was conducted at the police station. No matter what, the police would have kept a DNA sample on file since her case is still unsolved and they need to find the killer."
Aria instantly understood what Raphael meant. "So if we find someone who might be biologically related to Lilith, we can use the police department's DNA for a comparison..."
A flash of approval appeared in Raphael's eyes.
"I'm more inclined to believe that Roxanne's scheme was set in motion long before you were even born."
"Then Roxanne's baby..." A possibility suddenly struck Aria.
"Could it be that the premature baby never survived? Or... what if the seven-month-old fetus never existed at all?!"
The sheer scale of her own imagination shocked her, and a chill ran down her spine.
Goosebumps broke out across her skin, and her scalp tingled.
If her guess was true, it was utterly horrifying.
