After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 4

Would she really quit? The sun would rise in the west first.

Aria ignored Henry and sat down at her desk to print her resignation letter.-

"Gideon, can I really work here?"

As they spoke, a smiling Lilith emerged from the elevator, with Gideon standing beside her.

"Oh, Aria, you're here too," Lilith greeted Aria with a smile. "I begged Gideon to let me work at his company. Why don't you show me the ropes?"

"Of course, I'm also very curious to see what you're like when you're working!"

Gideon glanced at Aria, his tone mocking. "When Aria works, she's capable of abandoning all her self-respect."

Lilith looked confused. "What does that mean?"

At his words, Aria clenched the resignation letter in her hand.

She knew his words were loaded, aimed directly at her.

Back then, in order to help the Evernight Group grow and to pursue Gideon, she had indeed been quite humble.

On top of that, Gideon had been drugged, forced to sleep with her, and then Old Mr. Evernight had pressured him into marrying her.

In Gideon's eyes, she was a schemer who had abandoned her pride to climb the social ladder.

But the marriage wasn't her choice, and she certainly hadn't been the one to drug him. She didn't feel she should have to take the blame for it.

She had explained this countless times, but Gideon never believed her.

"For the next few days, you'll be responsible for showing Lilith around the company," Gideon ordered, his face impassive.

Lilith immediately grew anxious. "Then what about you, Gideon?"

"If she gives you any trouble, you can report it to me anytime."

"Henry, go to the administration department and have them make a copy of a keycard that gives Ms. Rowan access to my office at all times."

Just as he had ignored her for so many years.

The three of them were left in the office once again.

"Aria, are you really planning to quit?" Henry snatched the resignation letter from Aria's hand and casually flipped through it.

Lilith's eyes widened at the news. "You're quitting, Aria? Where will you live? Are you moving back home? Or will you have Dad cover your living expenses?"

Henry's gaze roamed over Aria. "How could Ms. Rowan be out of money? She's the top performer in the company. She must have plenty of backers by now!"

Aria snatched the letter back from Henry and slapped it across his face. "If you’re that desperate for attention, go find someone who gets paid to give it to you. Stop bringing your pathetic drama to my desk."

"And by the way, tell Gideon I quit."

At the same time, she placed the divorce agreement on Gideon's desk.

Then she stormed out of the Evernight Group.
