"Fine, I promise you," Gideon said. "I'll get Aria pregnant as soon as possible."

In the living room.
Eveline's eyes burned with envy as she stared at the shares in Aria's hand. Three percent! It didn't sound like much, but these were shares in the Evernight Group!
Aria read through the share transfer agreement and, just as she suspected, there was a catch.
If Aria divorced, the three percent of shares would be revoked. They couldn't be sold or claimed as her personal property.
Aria tore the agreement to shreds without a second thought.
Eveline shrieked, "Aria! You are so ungrateful!"
Did they think they could buy her entire life with three percent of shares?
Aria wasn't having it.
She tossed the shredded paper into the trash can, not even sparing a glance for the pained look on Eveline's face.
Her phone buzzed twice.
It was a message from Roxanne: [Come home.]
Aria felt a surge of irritation and thought about ignoring it, but another message from Roxanne came through immediately.
—[Don't you want the truth about your biological parents?]
Aria's hand tightened.
If things had gone as planned, today was the day Lilith was supposed to return to the Rowan family, but she was in the hospital.
What good could possibly come from them summoning her at a time like this?
But… news about her birth parents…
Aria went anyway.
The Rowan family home was eerily quiet.
Nathan Rowan sat in the main chair, with Roxanne standing beside him.
When the man saw Aria arrive, he picked up a cup from beside him and threw it at her.
"Refusing is one thing, but to not even tell us clearly about something as serious as a misdiagnosis…"
Nathan grew even angrier. "You are her sister!"
"Well, aren't the two of you refusing to believe my diagnosis right now?"
Aria found a seat and sat down.
Her expression was cold.
She had just told Nathan his temper indicated a potential health issue that needed attention, and they had both dismissed it, hadn't they?
The two of them froze, completely taken aback by her response.
"You studied Western medicine. If you could diagnose a problem just by looking, you'd be a miracle worker!"
The maid, Clara, who had come to pour tea, couldn't help but rebut Aria's claim.
"The master has been eating and drinking well this whole time. He doesn't look sick at all!"
"Another non-believer," Aria said, too tired to argue. She tapped her fingers on the table and let out a dry laugh. "You asked me to come, and I came. Now, can you tell me about my birth parents?"
