After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 41

“What is this attitude? If I hadn’t brought this up today, would you have ever come back at all?”

Roxanne’s hand flew to her heart, her breathing coming in sharp, indignant hitches as her temper flared.

Aria glanced at her with cold eyes.

The moment she had knelt in the hospital, begging Aria to save Lilith, any affection Aria had for Roxanne had died.

Paying back the money was simply to repay the kindness of being saved back then.

“There hasn’t been a place for me in this home for a long time.”

“What kind of nonsense is that?” Nathan said, annoyed. “You’re the one who refuses to come back!”

Aria looked at Nathan with a cool expression.

This man, her nominal father, had wanted to throw her out of the Rowan family the moment he learned she wasn’t his biological daughter, back when she was only fifteen.

After that, he had never shown any concern for her.

Now that Lilith needed her, Nathan was claiming it was Aria who was unwilling to return.

Although she had long been disappointed in Nathan, his words still stung.

But only for a brief moment.

“If you have nothing else to say, I’m leaving.”

Aria stood up to go.

“Your birth mother is already dead.”

“As for your father... your mother was reckless with her heart, and no one knows who she chose to share it with.”

Nathan spoke suddenly.

Aria froze. “How is that possible?”

Roxanne snorted. “Why wouldn’t it be? She was in a car accident over a decade ago, which is when Lilith was sent to the countryside. It was even in the news.”

She tossed a yellowed, decade-old newspaper in front of Aria.

Aria didn’t want to believe it.

When she first learned about her parentage, Aria had wanted to find her biological parents, but she worried Roxanne would be upset, so she could only subtly ask Lilith about them.

But Lilith was always vague.

Aria could only bury that regret in her heart.

“She’s already passed away. Don’t tarnish the memory of the dead with such slander.”
