Charles was stunned.
He never imagined Professor Reaves would defend Aria so fiercely.
Then again, it was less about protecting Aria and more about protecting Dawn, who stood behind her.
As long as Dawn changed his mind and stopped collaborating with Aria, she would be powerless.
“Professor, I was out of line.”
Lilith still needed the specialized medicine to manage her pain, so he couldn’t pull out.
Besides, this advanced research institute was his only hope for his hand to ever recover.
After Charles left, Aria breathed a sigh of relief.
“What’s this about the Evernight family? You’ve been with them all these years? Did you throw away your career for them?”
“I didn’t throw it away,” Aria replied to the accusation, feeling no guilt. “My research never stopped. I just shifted my focus from the lab to clinical application.”
Before marrying Gideon, she had already familiarized herself with his daily routine, so she was confident when she began preparing his therapeutic diet.
Professor Reaves’s expression softened slightly. “Don’t throw away your future for a man or two.”
In his eyes, if Aria had never left the institute, her achievements over the past few years would have made her a rising star.
Aria nodded.
She had been admitted to the institute at eighteen, a rare exception made because Professor Reaves had recognized her talent.
“But if you’re saying Dawn can’t make an appearance, how will you handle the experiments?”
“Right now, the project is still in the conceptual phase and won’t involve highly precise clinical work. Perhaps after some time, Dawn will be able to show himself.”
She didn’t intend to hide forever. Once she and Gideon divorced and he no longer held any power over her, Dawn would make a public appearance.
