Lilith lowered her head, nervously twisting her fingers.
“As long as you’re with me, I’d be willing to die right now.”
“Don’t say such things,” Gideon chided softly. “You’ll live a long and healthy life.”
“Ms. Rowan, a wonderful person like you is blessed by the heavens!” Henry added with fawning praise. “It’s just that some petty people are always trying to get in the way!”
Wasn’t he just implying that Aria was the one preventing Dawn from helping?
Aria couldn’t be bothered to argue with them. She stood up to get her test results.
Henry seized the opportunity to sneak a look, pulling out a CT scan report.
“It really is a pulled muscle. Aria, you’re willing to hurt yourself just to find Mr. Evernight. How devoted.”
Gideon’s expression remained calm.
From his perspective, what Henry said wasn’t entirely without merit.
That was just how Aria was.
She would do anything to have him.
“Give that back.”
Aria snatched the report and put it away.
Gideon said, “Aria, I’ll give you a chance. Give me Dawn’s contact information, and I’ll let you come back to work at Evercrest Holdings.”
“You’ll still be my executive assistant, same salary and benefits as before.”
Henry’s eyes widened slightly.
He knew how capable Aria was. If she came back, it would be even harder for him to get ahead.
“Mr. Evernight, someone like Aria doesn’t deserve to be your executive assistant! She’s too manipulative!”
Gideon shot Henry a look, and a chill ran down Henry’s spine.
He had overstepped. Who Gideon hired was his decision alone; Henry had no right to interfere.
Aria’s lips curled into a smirk. “You could offer me your own position, and I still wouldn’t come back.”
