After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 63

Aria couldn't accept her child existing as a mere tool, to be used and discarded at will.

The doctor was taken aback to see Aria return in such a state, and her heart went out to her. “Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?”

The woman looked so thin and fragile, her eyes red and swollen. It was obvious she was suffering.

It was most likely a family issue.

“I’ve made up my mind,” Aria said. “I want to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible.”

“Then let’s run some tests first. I need to assess your physical condition.”

The doctor didn’t press further and ordered several tests for Aria.

It wasn’t a busy time of day, so Aria finished her tests and decided to wait at the hospital for the results.

She hadn’t driven, and going back and forth would be inconvenient.

“Aria? What are you doing here?”

Lilith was in a hospital gown, with Gideon right beside her.

“Aria, chasing Mr. Evernight all the way here really isn’t your style.”

Henry, holding a test report, couldn’t resist a sarcastic jab when he saw her.

Aria hadn’t expected to run into them here, of all places. What were the odds?

Gideon’s voice was icy. “Aria, Lilith is sick. Can’t you leave her alone even now?”

He actually thought she had followed him here on purpose.

Aria almost laughed, but the thought of the baby in her womb quickly sobered her.

“I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Then why did you call me?”

Aria looked up at Gideon, then at Lilith.

Lilith flinched as if frightened and quickly hid behind Gideon. “Gideon, does she not want you to be with me?”

Besides, Gideon didn’t like Aria, so he wouldn’t care about her reputation or her well-being. Otherwise, he never would have let her drink until she had a stomach hemorrhage at a business dinner.

Henry recalled how, years ago, before the company went public, Aria had relentlessly drunk to close deals, only to be hospitalized. Gideon had just assumed she was slacking off.

The sarcasm in Henry’s eyes deepened.

A lapdog that never complained or took credit for her work was still just a lapdog, even ten years later.

“So this is the research institute you quit your job for?” Gideon taunted. “It seems even Dawn isn’t all-powerful.”

“Dawn is a person, not a god,” Aria retorted, standing up. “But using all those connections and still failing to find even a trace of them? That’s just incompetence.”

Henry’s face changed. “Aria, who are you calling incompetent?!”

Gideon had tasked him with finding Dawn. Not only had he failed, but he hadn’t even managed to discover that Aria herself was Dawn’s representative.

She was calling him out in front of everyone.

“Gideon, really, it’s okay if Dawn doesn’t want to save me,” Lilith murmured.
