The lawyer's smile vanished.
He had Aria's contact information. After he opened the video, the camera was pointed directly at Aria as two maids held her down on a bed.
Then, Eveline's voice could be heard.
It was proof. Ironclad proof.
"Mr. Evernight," the lawyer said, his expression grim. "If Ms. Rowan submits this evidence, I'm afraid..."
She could actually go to jail.
Even though it was just a phone that was quickly returned, forceful theft is still a felony. It was a serious offense.
If Aria refused to drop the case, things would get very difficult.
Gideon's expression was calm. "What do you want?"
Asking what she wanted now? Why didn't he just stop Eveline back then?
It was simply because they thought she had no connections and couldn't fight back.
"I'll let the police handle it," Aria said, her voice equally cold. "Whatever they decide, I'll accept."
"Son! Don't beg her!" Eveline shot up from her seat. "Who the hell does she think she is? I refuse to believe she can actually send me to jail!"
The Evernight family was powerful and influential; protecting Eveline would be incredibly easy.
Aria understood this as well.
But in the face of evidence, even they would need some time to interfere. Using this time to teach Eveline a lesson was worth it.
With that thought, Aria remained seated, calm and composed.
Her fingers subconsciously stroked her stomach.
Seeing that Aria wouldn't budge, Gideon didn't say anything more. Instead, he made a phone call.
The call was answered quickly.
Gideon turned the volume all the way up, as if he wanted her to hear.
It was Nathan's voice.
"Mr. Evernight, calling so late. Does this mean you're interested in a partnership?"
Aria's eyes flew open.
