After All the Hurt, She Chose Herself novel Chapter 70

The female officer was momentarily stunned that Eveline would come up with such a line of reasoning.

Truly shameless.

Aria was so amused by Eveline’s words that she laughed. She looked at Gideon. “What do you think, Mr. Evernight?”

“Stop being sarcastic,” Gideon said coldly. “This is a private family matter. You’re blowing things out of proportion.”

Aria laughed to herself.

She was blowing things out of proportion?

She should have done this a long time ago.

Eveline had always treated Aria like a pushover, someone easy to manipulate. After this, she would have to think twice before trying it again.

“Officer, Eveline is the mastermind, and these two maids were her accomplices! They held me down so Eveline could snatch my phone!”

“Let’s discuss this back at the station.”

Aria nodded.

The maids’ faces instantly changed. “This has nothing to do with us! We were just following orders. How can we be accomplices?”

The officer scoffed. “Take them all to the station!”

“Son! Son, you have to save me!”

“Sir, we’re really innocent!”

Aria felt a sense of relief as she got into the police car and headed for the station, not sparing Gideon another glance.

Realistically, with the power of Gideon and the Evernight family, Eveline wouldn’t face any real punishment.

The Evernight family would protect her.

Aria sat on a bench at the police station, waiting to give her statement.

Gideon arrived, followed by a lawyer.

Aria recognized him. He was the top lawyer at Evercrest Prosperity Holdings, with an undefeated record.

“Ms. Rowan,” the lawyer greeted her. “Long time no see.”

Aria nodded in acknowledgment.

“Who says I don’t have evidence?”

The lawyer froze. “You have evidence?”

Eveline was taken aback, then immediately retorted, “She can’t have any evidence! She must be bluffing!”

An officer came out. “Quiet! No shouting!”

Eveline fumed but said no more.

Gideon looked at Aria.

She seemed to have transformed back into the Aria from three years ago—determined and full of conviction.

Though her frame was thinner, her sharp edge was on full display.

Aria sent a video from her phone to the lawyer. “You might not be aware, but this isn’t the first time Eveline has forced her way in to take something from me. So this time, I have a recording.”

Gideon’s body tensed.

“This kind of evidence should be enough for a conviction, right?” Aria raised an eyebrow at Gideon. “Mr. Evernight, I’m afraid this time, you’re the one who will have to offer me a settlement. Otherwise, I have no intention of dropping the case.”
