A slight similarity might be a coincidence of ideas, but for even the medication ratios to be completely identical was impossible!
Aria had assumed that Alden Reaves would already be asleep at this late hour and was planning to head home herself to rest up for the tough battle ahead tomorrow.
But less than three minutes later, a message from Alden Reaves arrived.
[Dr. Reaves: Come to my office.]
Aria was a bit surprised but didn’t waste any time and headed over immediately.
She knocked and entered.
“Professor, you haven’t gone to bed yet?”
“What happened to your face?”
They both spoke at the same time.
Aria felt a little embarrassed, raising a hand to touch her still-stinging cheek. “There was a small incident, but it’s been resolved.”
As she spoke, Aria caught the faint scent of medicine.
It was familiar, but for a moment, she couldn’t place where she had smelled it before.
“I saw the message you sent. I’ve already summoned Hazel,” Alden Reaves said. “I will not tolerate a plagiarist in my institute for a second longer!”
“Professor, I’ve discovered that this drug’s side effects are not minor at all.”
Aria opened the file and pointed out the medication to Alden Reaves.
“In the short term, this drug numbs a person’s nerves; it doesn’t repair them. So with long-term use, not only does it lead to addiction, but it could also completely destroy the nervous system.”
“I am now asking you to recall all the doses that have been sent out. Do not let any more patients suffer from this disaster.”
Alden Reaves looked up. “What evidence do you have?”
“I experimented on lab mice before.” Aria quickly found a video of her experiment from a few years ago. “Look.”
In the video, the lab mouse was indeed lively in the short term. But after a month, the medicated mouse became agitated and would only calm down after receiving another dose.
Aria had reason for her suspicions.
