Gideon leaned down and held Lilith tightly in his arms. “Just hold on a little longer…”
“Get a doctor in here! See if there are any other options!”
Henry acknowledged and hurried off to get a doctor.
Aria took the folder in her hand.
She had no intention of staying at the hospital any longer and turned to leave.
She ran into Henry, who was on his way back with the doctor.
“Aria, you're pregnant.” Henry stopped in his tracks. “Congratulations. Having an heir will certainly secure your position in the family.”
“What are you getting at?” Aria raised an eyebrow. “Gideon doesn't know I'm pregnant. Are you going to tell him?”
Henry was an opportunist.
She knew how to handle him.
“I'll take that as a blessing. This is Gideon's first child. If I give birth, my status will certainly rise. And I'll be sure to repay you for all the ‘care’ you've shown me over the years.”
Aria placed a hand on her stomach, watching Henry's expression change drastically, then added slowly, “However, I don't plan on telling Gideon about this.”
“What?”
Henry was dumbfounded.
Aria wasn't going to tell him she was pregnant? Why?
If it was because of Lilith, that was just stupid. How could a child be compared to a terminally ill woman?
This child could guarantee Aria a secure and worry-free life in the Evernight family!
“That's none of your business,” Aria said calmly. “Whether you tell Gideon or not is up to you. But I always keep my promises.”
In an instant, Henry understood.
Aria was threatening him. If he told Gideon she was pregnant, she would get her revenge…

“It's working!” Hazel was pleasantly surprised. “This is the latest version of the experimental drug. It seems Ms. Rowan isn't rejecting it!”
“It's just a shame…” Hazel's expression dimmed. “...that Ms. Rowan won't be able to use it anymore…”
Flora was confused. “Why do you say she won't be able to use it?”
Hazel briefly explained the situation.
With Charles and Gideon there, Hazel didn't hide the fact that she had plagiarized the research.
“But my drug really does help Ms. Rowan. Aria, just to protect her own reputation and future, convinced our professor to halt the research… What about patients like Ms. Rowan who are waiting for this medicine?”
Flora's eyes widened, finding it hard to believe Aria had that much influence.
But neither Charles nor Gideon refuted it…
“Then, what if I commission Ms. Quinn to join the Keene family's lab?”
Flora made a quick decision. “You can continue developing the drug in our lab. That way, Lilith can keep receiving treatment!”
