Right now, Ethan was so frail he could hardly speak. Every word left him out of breath, and talking for even a minute or two seemed impossible. He couldn’t move either, let alone call Isabella and ask her to come back.
Jennifer came back into the hospital room with the others. When she saw Ethan’s eyes red and watery, her heart twisted. She gently wiped away his tears, her voice full of frustration and worry. “What did Isabella say to you? You’re still so badly hurt, just out of danger, and she has to bring up things that upset you.”
She turned softer for a moment. “Ethan, you’re still young. If you want, you could be with anyone. Once you’re back home and healthy, I’ll help set you up. You’ll meet someone better than Isabella, I promise. Don’t think about Isabella anymore. Or Natalie either. Neither of them is right for you.”
Jennifer hadn’t always felt this way. She’d appreciated it when Isabella came to visit after Ethan’s car accident. But then she found out Isabella had accepted Harold’s feelings for her, was officially his girlfriend, and even let everyone know about it. That stung. Jennifer couldn’t help blaming Isabella for refusing to give Ethan another chance.
To make matters worse, Isabella started dating Harold while Ethan was away on a business trip. Sure, Ethan made mistakes, but he’d done his best to change. He was working so hard on himself, yet Isabella just wouldn’t give him another shot. Jennifer kept a bit of anger tucked away, choosing not to say it aloud.
Stephanie finally spoke up, a hint of sharpness in her voice. “Jennifer, you had a hand in Ethan and Isabella splitting up. There’s no need to push him about it now.”
She sat next to the bed. Ethan turned his tired gaze toward her. “Grandma,” he managed in a raw whisper.
She leaned forward, her voice soft and full of care. “Only say what you absolutely have to, Ethan. The rest can wait. Right now, you just need to rest and get your strength back.”
She reached out and gently touched Ethan’s cheek, noticing how thin his face had become. He’d been in the ICU for a whole week. It was a miracle he’d made it out. So many people never came back from that place.
“When you’re stronger, we’ll get you eating right again and back on your feet. The company can wait. Jeremy and the others will take care of things.”
When their kids were healthy, parents always wanted them to be the best they could. But at times like this, none of that mattered. Suddenly, all anyone cared about was Ethan getting better.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
