Cynthia sighed. "I know it's not worth getting mad over them, but I just can't help it."
"You might not remember how they treated us back then, but it's etched into my bones. I will never forget what they did to us for the rest of my life."
"When they tried to sell you, why didn't they remember you were their own flesh and blood? You were the only child your father and I had. When he passed, they tried to sell off his only surviving child."
"They aren't human. They're worse than animals."
"Now that they're struggling and see we're doing well, they want to demand money. I'd rather donate my money to help underprivileged kids go to school than give them a single penny."
"Let them sue us. We'll pay exactly what the court orders, but don't think you have to shoulder it all alone. Your money didn't just fall from the sky."
Isabella replied, "They won't actually take me to court. They've been here long enough to consult a lawyer. They know their chances of winning are slim, and even if they did win, the payout would be minimal."
"It's precisely because they know a lawsuit won't benefit them that they're resorting to relentless harassment, trying every dirty trick to extort money out of me."
Her grandmother's illness was definitely real, and it genuinely required a massive sum of money.
Isabella could easily cover the medical expenses at any moment, but she absolutely refused to.
So what if she was her biological grandmother?
Had the woman ever raised her for a single day?
Had she ever shown her an ounce of love or affection?
No. They had only wanted to sell her for profit.
They were the ones who had acted heartlessly first, so they had no right to blame her for being ruthless now.
Whenever the urge for revenge flared up, Cynthia repeatedly reminded herself not to be impulsive.
Since she lived in a highly secure, upscale neighborhood, The George Family couldn't get in anyway. She rarely left the house, spending her days happily tending to her vegetable garden, flowers, and fruit trees.
Amelia usually handled the grocery shopping, and sometimes Susan helped out too.
Cynthia could completely avoid The George Family. It was only Isabella, who had to go to work and run her businesses, who couldn't dodge them.
Isabella didn't object to her mother's plan. She simply warned, "Mom, whatever you do, just make sure you don't break the law. Don't give them any leverage to use against us."
"Don't worry, I know. I won't ruin our good lives over them."
"I'll head over there first thing tomorrow morning with some people. Your uncle and aunt will look after you here. Be careful when you go out. Who knows what crazy stunts they might pull when they get desperate."

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
I will be devastated if Isabella and Ethan will get back together. Please, writer, Isabella deserves Harold....
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
