“Mrs. Adams.”
Isabella was almost at the elevator when Ethan’s secretary called after her. He hurried over, looking nervous and polite at the same time.
“Mrs. Adams, Mr. Adams wants you to come back.”
Isabella arched a brow. Ethan wanted her back? Was he actually changing his mind?
She gave a little shrug. “Tell him I can find investors on my own. I don’t need him. I’m not going back.”
She pressed the elevator button, but the secretary quickly stepped in front of her, looking desperate. “Mrs. Adams, please. If I can’t get you to go back, Mr. Adams will say I didn’t do my job, and I’ll lose part of my paycheck. I’m just a secretary, trying to keep my job. Please don’t make this harder for me.”
He motioned for her to head back down the hall. Isabella hesitated, lips pressed together, but finally turned and let him lead her back to the CEO’s office.
He knocked for her, waited for Ethan’s response, then opened the door and showed her in. He even poured her some warm water and brought over a plate of fresh fruit and pastries before quietly slipping back out.
Isabella sat across from Ethan, not saying a word. She just started eating the pastries, pretending he wasn’t even there.
Ethan’s voice was low, almost a growl. “Isabella, beg me.”
She shot him a look. “Beg you? For what? To drink your herbal tea?” Her tone was casual, almost mocking. “Drink it or don’t. It’s your body. If you don’t care, why should I? You don’t love me. You used me. You played with my feelings. Right now, I hate you. Sometimes I wish you were dead.”
Did she really hate him? Maybe not. The resentment, though, that was real. He’d always treated her well, but he never loved her. At least when she died, he’d made sure she had a proper burial. He didn’t just leave her lost and forgotten.
But she couldn’t help feeling bitter. He’d used her, dragged her into his mess with Natalie, and that had cost her everything. If Ethan hadn’t pulled her in, she could have married someone normal, lived a quiet life. At least then, Natalie wouldn’t have targeted her. Maybe she’d still be alive.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
