"She told Jordan she was framed, and he assumed I was the one who called the cops on her, but she never came by my shop today." Isabella paused. "Barbara... do you think Natalie had something to do with your kidnapping?"
"She hates my guts, but she knows she can't get to me directly, so she went after the people I care about?"
Isabella ran through the list of her closest friends. Laura was constantly at the shop, usually flanked by Jesse, making her a terrible target for a ransom.
Linda was the sole heiress of the White family, and touching a hair on her head was essentially a death wish—kidnappers knew exactly who to avoid.
The Carter family was wealthy, meaning taking Barbara guaranteed a massive ransom. But more importantly, Barbara was her closest friend and her future sister-in-law.
Hurting Barbara was the ultimate way to destroy Isabella.
Isabella had originally suspected York was the mastermind, but now, it looked like Natalie was heavily involved.
"Her?"
Barbara exchanged a sharp look with Harold.
She had briefly suspected Natalie, but dismissed the idea, assuming the woman wasn't insane enough to cross the Carter family.
But with Natalie currently sitting in an interrogation room, the theory was suddenly terrifyingly plausible.
Right at that moment, Harold's phone rang. He answered it quickly, listening closely.
"They got them? Do they know who hired them to grab my sister?"
Barbara gasped, leaning forward anxiously.
"They were just brought in. Interrogations haven't even started. And even when they do, guys like this rarely flip on their boss right away."
Barbara sank back against the cushions with a heavy sigh.
"Don't worry, Barbara. They're in custody. The police will break them eventually. Just... please don't go anywhere without your security from now on."
Isabella comforted her friend.
Isabella stood up and poured herself a glass of water. "I guess I'm just used to eating fast because of work," she lied smoothly, taking a sip.
Harold looked at her with genuine concern. "You shouldn't rush like that, Isabella. It'll ruin your stomach. No matter how busy you get, you need to eat properly."
"I wasn't inhaling it, I just eat a little quicker than you guys."
Maybe she just wasn't as picky and thought the takeout was fine.
The wealthy siblings claimed they weren't picky, but they simply weren't used to cheap takeout, which was why they ate so slowly.
Besides, the only reason Barbara had asked for the food was to get her out of the room so she could talk to Harold privately.
Isabella knew this, but she couldn't bring herself to ask Harold what they had discussed.
There were too many secrets, too many terrifying possibilities, and her mind was spinning.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
I will be devastated if Isabella and Ethan will get back together. Please, writer, Isabella deserves Harold....
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
