“Honestly, I think Jesse and Sophia would make a better couple. The Mason family just has a little more influence than the Carters,” Ethan said, trying to sound casual, but his eyes kept flickering with worry.
He couldn’t help it. If Harold liked Isabella, then he was definitely not right for Sophia. Ethan wanted the best for his sister. The last thing he wanted was for her to end up with a husband who was secretly into someone else.
Jennifer, however, had her own opinion. “I actually prefer Harold. He’s gentle and thoughtful, and let’s be real, he’s more handsome than Jesse. He and Sophia would make a perfect match,” she said, not even trying to hide her excitement.
Jennifer had been thinking about this for a long time. In her mind, the best choice for Sophia was right in front of them. One of Ethan’s friends would be perfect. They already knew each other, their families got along, and the business connections didn’t hurt either. If Sophia married into their circle, Jennifer was sure her daughter would have a happy, secure life.
Sophia, meanwhile, felt her face go pale. Were they really talking about her marriage like she wasn’t even there? She’d already told them she didn’t have feelings for Jesse or Harold. The only person she was interested in was Dylan Main. She’d only met him once, but she couldn’t get him out of her mind.
“Mom, Ethan, I’ve said it a hundred times. I don’t have feelings for Jesse or Harold. I see them as brothers, and they see me the same way. You can’t just throw two people together because it looks good on paper. Love doesn’t work like that,” Sophia said, trying not to sound desperate.
She looked at them both, determined. “Why can’t you at least try to get to know Dylan Main? He’s actually amazing. Maybe he’s never settled down with anyone before, but who knows? I could be the one to change that.”
Sophia was nothing if not confident. She was sure she was a better match for Dylan than any of his exes. Her background was impeccable. If they were together, their families could work together and both companies would win. She refused to believe Dylan wouldn’t be tempted.
Ethan shook his head. “No way. I mean it, Sophia. You’re not seeing Dylan Main. Mom, take her home and keep an eye on her. Don’t let her sneak out to find him,” he said, his tone brooking no argument. He knew what kind of guy Dylan was. If Sophia showed up on his doorstep, Dylan would not hesitate to take full advantage.
“She’s not my sister-in-law,” Sophia said, her voice sharp.
Ethan’s expression turned icy. “Sophia, are you saying I’m not your brother anymore?”
Sophia’s annoyance melted away for a second. “No, Ethan, of course you’re my brother. You always will be.”
“Then Isabella is your sister-in-law. You need to start treating her with respect. I’m serious, Sophia. No more calling her names or treating her like an outsider. And if I hear you insult her again, there will be consequences,” Ethan said, his voice leaving no room for argument.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
