“That way, you’ll walk away clean and get a front row seat to all the drama.” Isabella’s voice was low but certain. “Jordan and Natalie, they’re ruthless. If they find out Jackson has a ten-year-old kid on the side, do you think they’ll just let it slide? No way. Jackson would turn on his mistress and that boy in a heartbeat, and then he’d have to protect them from his own family. That’s going to mess things up between him and Jordan.”

It was a complicated plan, but Cynthia could see it was the safest way out. She thought it through, weighing all the risks and rewards, and finally nodded. Isabella’s idea actually made sense.

“But what if the mistress doesn’t go back to her hometown? Jackson would never suspect her then,” Cynthia said, frowning.

“It doesn’t matter if she goes home or not. As long as Jackson doesn’t suspect you, we’re good. All we want is for him to start fighting with her. That’s the point. Once he gets suspicious, he’ll never really trust her again, not even if he pretends to. Besides, she’s got family and friends. She could have asked someone else to help her out. There’s always a way.”

Isabella leaned in, her tone serious. “When you get to the city, check in at the hotel, put on your makeup and disguise before you head out. Don’t let the hotel cameras catch you. Go out, do what you need to do, and get back the same day. Once you’re back, wash off the makeup, destroy the wig, and make sure nothing can be traced back to you.”

Cynthia nodded slowly. “I know what to do. If I go through with this, I’ll make sure to cover my tracks. There won’t be any evidence for Jackson to find. I’ll tell him I’m going on a trip as soon as I get home.”

“Mom, you should take a proper vacation. Stay away for a couple of weeks, just enjoy yourself,” Isabella said gently. “You’ve given The Lane Family everything, and this is how Jackson treats you. He doesn’t deserve your loyalty.”

Cynthia smiled at her daughter, warmth in her eyes. “As long as I got to raise you, and keep you safe, it was worth it. No one could take you away from me.” Isabella had suffered a lot as she grew up, but at least she had always been safe. That was enough for Cynthia.
