After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 30

Isabella always said that Ethan was ridiculously good-looking. Falling for him was almost inevitable. He was devoted to Natalie, completely loyal, but that didn’t mean he was short on admirers. In fact, he had more than enough.

Everyone knew Ethan adored his little sister, Sophia. So, a lot of girls tried to cozy up to Sophia, hoping to get closer to him. Sophia, being young and a little naive, wasn’t exactly hard to win over. Anyone who made her feel special was instantly welcomed into her tight circle of “besties.”

“Sophia, what are you doing here?” Isabella called out, sounding totally unbothered.

Sophia was the sixth kid among her siblings, but the oldest girl. There were ten boys in Ethan’s generation, but just two girls: Sophia and a little cousin who was only eight.

“What are you doing out here?” Sophia shot back, glaring.

Isabella smiled, swinging gently. “Just having some time on the swing. Want to try it? I can get off for you.”

Back in the past, Isabella and her in-laws never got along, especially Sophia. They used to argue all the time. But now, Isabella just couldn’t bring herself to care. She didn’t love Ethan anymore, so what did it matter what his family thought of her? Their opinions didn’t even make a dent.

“Where’s Ethan?” Sophia demanded. “You’re not with him? I heard he was drunk last night. You’re his wife, Isabella. Shouldn’t you be looking after him when he’s not feeling well?”

“That’s right,” one of Sophia’s friends piped up, her voice dripping with fake sweetness.

“Isabella Lane, if you can’t take care of Ethan, just let us know. We’d be more than happy to help out,” said another, barely hiding her intentions.

“Yeah, just call me any time,” added a third, her smile way too eager.

All four of them nodded, making it embarrassingly clear they’d love to take Isabella’s place.

“Sure, why not,” Isabella replied, hopping off the swing and dusting off her hands. “Let’s go in. You can all help take care of him.”

She waved for Sophia and her little group of rivals to follow her into the house.

The group froze at the sight of Ethan. Only Isabella kept walking, stopping right in front of him and looking up. He was so tall that she looked extra tiny next to him.

“Ethan, they heard you got drunk last night and thought you’d have a headache,” Isabella said, her tone bright and almost teasing. “They wanted to come take care of you.”

She leaned in a little closer, lowering her voice so only he could hear. “You’re pretty lucky, you know. They’re all gorgeous, and their figures… wow. Even I’m tempted.”

“You really should appreciate all this attention,” she added, patting his chest with a playful grin.

Ethan’s expression grew even darker. He glared down at her, his eyes cold and dangerous.

The tension was so thick Isabella instinctively stepped back, just a little.

Then, without warning, Ethan reached out, grabbing her arm.
