No matter how much money Cynthia offered, Zachary always gave it right back, untouched. He’d just tell her he could earn enough to support his family on his own, that he didn’t need her help. Jackson knew the truth, though. Zachary was worried about dragging her down, making things even harder for Cynthia in the Lane family.
Jackson slurped his noodles and glanced over. “Zachary’s oldest is about to graduate, right? If he can’t find a job, have him come to me. I’ll get him a spot at The Lane Group. He’ll have to start at the bottom, though. I’m not giving out high salaries just because someone’s family.”
He hoped that helping out Zachary’s kids might make Cynthia rethink the whole divorce idea. If she left, that door would close.
“It’s tough out there,” Cynthia said, her voice steady. “A lot of graduates can’t find work these days. But Isabella already saved a position for her cousin. The moment he graduates, she’ll bring him into her studio. She said she’s turning it into a company soon.”
She kept going, calm and matter-of-fact. “And the bookstore and café she’s opening with Laura? Renovations are almost done. They’ll need people to help run the place.”
Cynthia didn’t need Jackson to arrange jobs for her nephews. Isabella could handle it. Besides, she believed her nephews were capable enough to make it on their own. The job market might be rough, but if you’re willing to start from the bottom, you’ll find something.
If Ethan could hear him now, he’d be fuming. He’d told Cynthia that even if she got divorced, she’d still have him and Isabella to count on. He had more than enough money, and just a bit of it would make sure Cynthia lived comfortably. Cynthia only had one child, Isabella, and since Isabella was his wife, looking after his mother-in-law was just part of his responsibility. It was the natural thing to do.
Cynthia just scoffed inside. So I’m not supposed to trust Ethan, but I should trust you?
Not that she’d ever really depend on Ethan anyway. What she had now was more than enough for a good life. And when she was gone, she’d leave Isabella a solid inheritance. That was the payoff for the twenty years she’d given the Lane family.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
