After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 362

“Don’t get greedy, Isabella. A hundred million dollars is more than most people could ever make in a lifetime.”

Isabella knew that was true. A hundred million wasn’t just a lot, it was the kind of number that made your head spin. Even for her, Mrs. Adams, it was mind-blowing.

Honestly, she was barely scraping by. The ten million Ethan had given her to start her business was almost gone, sucked dry by her endless filming projects.

She wasn’t going to lie—Isabella really, really wanted to take that check.

“Just name your price,” Jennifer said. “If it’s reasonable, I’ll make it happen.”

“Jennifer.” Isabella tried to keep her voice steady. “It’s not that your offer isn’t enough. It’s that I don’t have the final say about this divorce. Even if you handed me another hundred million, I couldn’t leave Ethan.”

“When I realized Ethan wasn’t interested in me, I asked for a divorce more than once. He refused. He even threatened me. He said if I mentioned divorce again, he’d make sure my mom and I lost everything.”

“I don’t have much to lose, but I can’t drag my mom down with me. So… do you get why I’m stuck?”

Jennifer frowned. “Ethan refuses to divorce?”

“That’s right. He’s the one holding on, not me. It’s really not up to me.”

Jennifer was quiet for a second, then pulled out another check. She set them both in front of Isabella and said, “Two hundred million. Figure out a way to make Ethan divorce you.”

She clearly believed that enough money could solve anything. Honestly, Isabella was tempted. Who wouldn’t be?

Two hundred million. All she had to do was lose her husband. It sounded so simple, so absurdly easy.

Was this really her life now? Like a scene out of some over-the-top romance drama. She could actually get paid to become a rich woman by dumping her husband.

“So, Jennifer, can you put that in writing for me?”

“If I do that, and Ethan finds out, he’ll lose it. It would ruin what’s left of my relationship with him.” Jennifer’s voice was tight. The last time she’d gone against Ethan was when he married Isabella, and that fight was enough to last her a lifetime.

“Isabella, you have my word. As soon as you and Ethan are divorced, the money is yours. I have no reason to cheat you.”

“Jennifer, a promise isn’t enough. I need a contract, something official.”

Jennifer’s face hardened. “I’m the head of the Adams family. Are you really worried I’d go back on my word?”

“I am, actually. I’m also worried you’re setting me up for something worse. Honestly, if you want this so badly, why not figure out a way to get Ethan to divorce me? Then you’d save yourself two hundred million. Seems like a much better deal for you.”
