After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 373

Ethan rattled off a few of Isabella’s favorite dishes, making sure the kitchen had them on tonight’s menu. Stephanie didn’t ask any more questions. She just agreed, no hesitation.

If Ethan wanted his cousins to come back to The Adams Estate, he could handle that himself. But when it came to the older generation, only Stephanie could get them to listen.

Once the call ended, Ethan looked over at Isabella. “I’ve told you, I’m not agreeing to a divorce. You might as well stop dreaming about it and just get used to staying by my side.”

Isabella stayed silent. Inside, though, she was cursing him a thousand different ways.

She turned away, fixing her gaze on the city passing by outside the car window. She didn’t want to talk to him. Every time the topic of separating came up, the conversation just died. She honestly couldn’t figure him out. Why was he still clinging to her? She didn’t even go back to The Lane Family anymore. She was basically useless to him, yet he still wouldn’t let her go.

When she’d just come back to life, he’d been nothing but cold, always taking Natalie’s side. He’d even kicked her out of the seaside villa for Natalie. Was this going to turn into one of those over-the-top romance stories Laura loved, where the guy only falls in love after the girl finally gives up? No way. She’d spent three years in her last life trying to win him over and never managed to take Natalie’s place. He never showed her any love at all. Now, in this life, she was forcing herself to stop caring, focusing on work and making money, and suddenly he was paying attention to her?

Ethan didn’t say anything either. He just stared out his own window, lost in thought, but his big hand stayed wrapped around hers and didn’t let go.

Meanwhile, over at The Lane Group.

Deborah’s car rolled up to the front of the building. She didn’t bother getting out. Instead, she laid on the horn, signaling for the security guard to open the gate.

Seeing the guard’s confused expression, Deborah remembered she hadn’t set foot in The Lane Group for eleven years. The security staff had probably changed a dozen times. There was no point arguing. She took out her phone and called Jackson.

When he picked up, her voice turned sweet and clingy. “Jackson, I’m at the company entrance. I’ve been gone for eleven years and the guard doesn’t recognize me. He won’t let me in. Could you call down to security and ask them to let me through? My coffee’s getting cold.”

Jackson sighed. “Deborah, you actually came? I told you not to, but you never listen. Fine, I’ll send my secretary out for the coffee. You should go home. Kevin will be out of school soon.”

Kevin Lane was still in elementary school and came home every day. Deborah usually picked him up herself, though sometimes the nanny or a bodyguard would help out. Cynthia and Jordan didn’t have any security, but Jackson had hired bodyguards just for Deborah and Kevin, to keep them safe.
