Jennifer was fuming. She wanted nothing more than to slap some sense into Ethan herself. How could her son, someone she’d always been so proud of, be this clueless when it came to love?
Stephanie didn’t say a word. She just stood up and walked to her room, brushing off anyone who tried to help her.
As soon as she closed her door, Stephanie pulled out her phone and sent a quick message to Isabella. Go find Natalie and make a scene. Demand your wedding gifts back.
Natalie from the Gates family was just too greedy. She didn’t even love Ethan, but she still kept him hanging on. In Stephanie’s eyes, Natalie was the reason Ethan had hurt Isabella so deeply.
Natalie had managed to snatch almost all of the wedding gifts from the Adams family. Isabella only got a small villa and a car. The cash, the big house, the shops, the jewelry, and a bunch of fancy cars, all of it ended up with Natalie.
And Ethan? He knew exactly what was going on. He just kept quiet and let Natalie keep everything that should have gone to Isabella.
Sending Isabella to confront Natalie was Stephanie’s way of forcing Ethan to make a choice. If he stood up for Isabella, maybe he could fix some of the hurt he’d caused. But if he took Natalie’s side, that would be Isabella’s final sign to move on.
This marriage had been a mistake from the very beginning. Better to end it now than drag things out.
Stephanie wasn’t just doing this for Isabella’s sake. She wanted to teach her grandson a lesson too. Ethan was stubborn about not wanting a divorce, which only meant he was starting to care for Isabella, whether he realized it or not. That’s why Stephanie decided to help Isabella leave. Let Ethan lose her, let him finally see what he’d thrown away. Only then would he understand what it felt like to chase after something he couldn’t have. If he managed to win Isabella back, maybe they were meant to be. If not, Stephanie would personally help Isabella find a good man who could give her the happiness she deserved.
She could then act heartbroken, stand her ground about wanting a divorce, and wait for Natalie to stir the pot and drive an even bigger wedge between her and Ethan. Eventually, Ethan would get tired of all the fighting and agree to let her go.
She let out a long sigh. It was like she was reliving her last life, walking the same difficult road to divorce all over again. Last time, it was only after she made enough of a fuss that Ethan finally agreed to let her go. She just hoped it wouldn’t take three years this time.
All Isabella wanted was to be free by the end of the year.
But before she could even start her plan, Sophia had already jumped into action. As soon as the drama started, Sophia called Natalie and spilled every detail about what happened that night.
