After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 411

That way, at least it wouldn’t look too stingy.

Ethan knew he was in the wrong. He’d listened to his grandmother and made it very clear—the wedding gift was for Isabella, just her. Jackson never dared to touch it.

But he never expected Natalie to go after it.

Natalie, the woman he’d secretly loved for years. She ended up taking Isabella’s wedding gift. The gifts she gave Isabella herself looked impressive but were honestly worthless. As for Isabella’s real wedding gift, only a townhouse and a car were officially in her name.

Ethan didn’t want to fight with Natalie. He didn’t want her to lose face, so he kept his mouth shut.

Isabella did the same.

So, the whole wedding gift situation just faded away… until today. Out of nowhere, Isabella demanded the gift back from Natalie, right in front of him.

“Since Ethan’s wedding gift was clearly given to me, it belongs to me. It’s my property. Why do you get to keep it?” Isabella said, her voice steady.

Natalie couldn’t say a word.

“Natalie, you know the law,” Isabella pressed. “If you don’t give my wedding gift back and I decide to sue, who do you think would win? Sure, maybe Ethan would take your side and I’d lose. That’s fine. I can always call a press conference and let everyone know how you took my wedding gift. You care about your reputation, don’t you? I don’t think you want people finding out you did something so low.”

Natalie’s lips parted but nothing came out. She looked at Ethan, her eyes full of hurt.

“Ethan, last time you said I didn’t have to give it back. Why is Isabella asking for it now?”

“Isabella.” Ethan’s jaw was tight. “Isn’t it obvious? We’ve been married for months.”

“So you married me. That means the wedding gift is mine. But I never got what I was supposed to get.”

Ethan was at a loss for words. He knew if he didn’t handle this right now, his marriage to Isabella might really be over.

But the gifts were already with Natalie. Who knew if she’d already spent the money? Asking her to give it all back now would be nearly impossible. It would be like asking her to tear out a piece of her own heart.

On one side was his legal wife. On the other, the woman he’d loved for more than ten years.

Ethan felt completely stuck. No matter what he chose, he couldn’t win.
