After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 420

Natalie’s face turned stormy. “He told me to give the wedding gift back to Isabella. He said he made it clear from the start that it belonged to her alone. By holding onto it, I’m basically stealing from her.”

“If Isabella really wanted to sue me, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”

Jordan scowled. “Of course he’d say that. He’s so stubborn. He gave her the gift. If he wants it back, he should just take it.”

“I told him I already cashed it out and put the money into investments. Even if I wanted to return it, I couldn’t. Not that I want to. I made it clear to Ethan, that gift was Isabella’s way of repaying our family for raising her. I’m not giving it back.”

“I even told him to let a lawyer handle it, to help Isabella sue me if they really want to go there.”

Natalie’s eyes glinted with satisfaction as she continued. “When I said that and started tearing up, Ethan dropped the subject. He stopped pushing and just walked out.”

“I don’t know what he and Isabella said after that. I followed them outside, but I was too far away to hear. They left together, and then you came home.”

Jordan was quiet for a moment, thinking. “Ethan’s not going to sue us. We’ve known each other for almost thirty years. Isabella can’t compete with that kind of history.”

“She wants a divorce, though. Sophia told me Isabella’s asked Ethan for a divorce several times, but he always refuses.”

Natalie folded her arms, looking thoughtful. “Maybe this time, we should just let them get divorced. Ever since Isabella married Ethan, she’s been acting like she’s above us just because she has him backing her.”

“Her mom’s about to divorce my dad, too. Let’s see how she manages once she’s on her own, with no one left to lean on.”

“Without Ethan, no one’s going to care about her. We could ruin her career with barely any effort and leave her with nothing.”

“Sure, your dad might have to pay Cynthia some settlement in the divorce, but do you really think Cynthia will just watch Isabella’s business fall apart? She’ll throw money at it to keep it afloat, and that’s when we’ll take them both down. Make sure they lose everything.”
