After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 511

“Laura, go back to sleep. I’ll get the door,” Cynthia said as she pushed herself up from the sofa and walked away.

But Laura was already awake. There was no chance she’d drift off again, so she got up and headed to Isabella’s room. She found Isabella trying to sit up and hurried over. “Need to use the restroom?”

“No, I’ve just been lying down too long. I want to stretch my legs a bit.”

Laura helped her out of bed, then let go. The doctor had already said Isabella should get up and move around every so often, so nobody tried to stop her.

“You know, you should just take advantage of this. Sleep as much as you can while you’re stuck here,” Laura teased. “Remember all those late nights on set when you said you wished you could just lie down and do nothing for a few days? Well, your wish came true. Enjoy it.”

Isabella couldn’t help but laugh. “So, who’s at the door?”

“No idea. Cynthia went to check.”

Just as Laura finished speaking, Cynthia came back in, with Deborah right behind her. Isabella froze for a moment when she saw Deborah, and Laura didn’t recognize her at all.

“It’s great to see you up and moving, Isabella,” Deborah said brightly. She was carrying a bunch of shopping bags, and Cynthia had picked up a few to help her out.

“I heard you were in the hospital, so I came to check on you,” Deborah said, setting the bags down. “I bought you some supplements.”

Isabella’s response was polite but distant. “Thanks. That’s thoughtful.”

“It’s nothing, really. Jackson’s been busy with work and couldn’t come himself, so he asked me to come in his place.”

She handed the money to Isabella. “Jackson wanted me to bring this for you. He hopes you focus on getting better, and once you’re out, use this to take care of yourself. It’s for your recovery.”

Isabella took the money, her voice cool. “Please thank Jackson for me.”

Whether it was really Jackson’s idea or not, Isabella had no problem accepting the money. After everything they’d done to her mother, she wouldn’t refuse. Jordan and Natalie were terrible. Isabella worried about Cynthia getting hurt if she stayed with the Lane family, so she was all for the divorce.

Jackson’s compensation wasn’t exactly generous, but it wasn’t nothing either. If they could get more out of him, even better. So Isabella pocketed the cash without a second thought.

“I won’t keep you from resting,” Deborah said. She smiled at Cynthia. “Let’s step outside for a minute.”

Cynthia walked her out of the room.
