“Well, I’ll congratulate you in advance for taking over the family,” Cynthia said, her voice light but meaningful. “Once you’re in charge, you and your son won’t have to worry about them anymore.”

Deborah gave a confident smile. “That’s the plan. As soon as I marry in, I’m taking charge. I’m still young, full of energy, perfectly capable of running things. Natalie’s days of bossing everyone around are over.”

“And the staff at the Lane house, including the butler? I’m replacing every single one of them. They all answer to Natalie right now. That’s going to change.”

Deborah started telling Cynthia about her first run-in with Natalie, and Cynthia listened, clearly enjoying every detail. Natalie had finally met her match. The calm at the Lane house was about to come crashing down. Jackson would soon find out what it really meant to cheat.
