After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 53

Isabella paused for a moment, then smiled. “Honestly, everyone these days is obsessed with short videos. Watching a whole drama feels like a full-time job, but a mini-series? Each episode is just two minutes long. You can binge a hundred episodes before you even realize it.”

“And the best part is, there’s no filler. Every episode is packed with twists and drama, everything moves so fast. It’s like the fast food of TV shows, which is exactly what people want right now.”

“That’s why I thought I’d get in early and invest before the market gets crowded. Once these short dramas take over, everyone will want a piece. By then, it’ll be way harder to make money.”

That’s how business works. You need to catch the trend at the right moment if you want to cash in before the competition shows up. When everyone else piles in, it’s time for the early birds to move on before things go downhill.

Ethan watched her quietly for a while, then finally asked, “I heard you’re looking at storefronts. Are you thinking of buying or just renting?”

She was making things up, but he didn’t bother calling her out. Whoever convinced her to get into short dramas, that was her problem. If she made money, good for her. If she lost it all, well, that was her own doing. He’d already given her that ten million.

But that was it. If she lost that money, he wasn’t about to hand her more. After that, she’d just get a little allowance every month and settle into being his wife at home.

Isabella said, “I’ll rent for now. Buying a place would cost too much, and I need a big space. I want to open a coffee shop and a bookstore together. One side for books, the other for coffee.”

“You could grab a book, order a coffee, and just chill. Cafes and bookstores are always so peaceful. I think that would be really nice.”

Ethan replied, “You won’t make much from a shop like that, but if you’re just looking for a little income to cover your expenses, it’s not a bad idea.”

A guy like him would never waste his time running a shop.

Isabella shrugged. “I’ve never done business before, and I have no idea what else would actually make money. At least with a shop, as long as I can pay the rent and get by, I’ll feel good about it. Having that freedom is what matters to me.”

“Ethan, what kinds of projects is your company investing in now? Could you let me try investing with you? Maybe I could earn a little extra?”

Just then, Susan walked into the gazebo. “Ethan, Isabella, lunch is ready.”

Ethan stood up, then looked at Isabella, who was still sitting there. “Didn’t you say you wanted to go to your parents’ after we ate? Why are you just sitting there? Come on, let’s eat.”

“After lunch, look around the house. If you see any supplements or health products, take a few boxes for your mom.”

Isabella just nodded. She got up quietly and followed him out of the gazebo.

Her mind wandered as she walked. What other business ideas would actually make money in the next few years? She couldn’t think of a single one. In her last life, she’d wasted all her time fighting with Natalie Gates instead of focusing on important things. Ethan never talked about work with her. She really didn’t know anything about business.

Whatever. She’d ride the short drama wave for now and focus on running her bookstore and coffee shop. If she did well, maybe she could partner with schools so they’d buy their study materials from her bookstore. That could turn into a pretty decent income.
