“Natalie, you have to get Jordan to talk to Jackson. You can’t just let that woman into the house. I overheard my mom and aunt talking about her. She has a son, and you know she’s going to fight Jordan for the inheritance.”
“That woman isn’t anything like Isabella’s mom. Cynthia is soft, and she and Jackson never had kids. She would never fight for anything.”
Sophia lowered her voice, almost talking to herself. “If I’d known things would turn out like this, I’d have rather let Cynthia stay. She minded her own business, never argued or tried to take anything. The Lane family would have always belonged to you and Jordan.”
Natalie let out a long sigh.
Now, she couldn’t help but feel some regret. She wished she’d been kinder to Cynthia. The moment Jackson’s affair came to light, Cynthia filed for divorce, not even looking back. She didn’t care about the family at all.
If Natalie had treated her better, maybe Cynthia would have been more attached to the family. Maybe she would have put up a fight against Deborah, instead of leaving right away.
She never imagined Jackson would cheat, let alone that he’d started ten years ago and even had a ten-year-old son.
On the surface, Cynthia and Jackson had always looked so in love. Natalie used to think Jackson was loyal, but clearly, there’s no such thing as a cat that doesn’t steal fish.
“Sophia, stay for lunch. I’ll have the kitchen make some of your favorite dishes,” Natalie said with a gentle smile, steering the conversation away from Cynthia.
She didn’t want to think about her regrets, not now. Besides, she couldn’t be nice to Cynthia, even if she wanted to. She and Isabella were on opposite sides, and her resentment toward Isabella made it impossible to be kind to her mother.
Sophia didn’t hesitate and agreed to stay for lunch at the Lane house.
The day slipped by quickly.
Before long, the sun was sinking into the sea, and another day was almost over.
“When don’t I have a dinner meeting? I wish I could go a week without one.” Douglas finished signing some paperwork, closed the folder, put down his pen, and stretched his arms. “I’m beat. This job is nonstop pressure. Every morning, all I think about is how to keep The White Group moving forward.”
“The economy’s tough right now. Our last two quarterly reports look awful. We’re losing a lot.”
When times are bad, the bigger your company, the bigger your losses. But they had to keep going.
Luckily, The White Group was still strong financially. Even with the bad numbers lately, their new projects had real potential. As soon as the returns came in, the reports for the second half of the year would look much better.
Right now, everyone was just holding on.
Even The Adams Group, the biggest conglomerate in the city, was facing losses.

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
