“If you’re not leaving, that’s fine, but just stay put and don’t try to take over. We’re separate now, not a couple anymore.”
Ethan’s face fell. He looked at her with that lost puppy expression. “Isabella, we haven’t even got our divorce papers yet. Legally, we’re still married. We’re still... us.”
“You have guests. I was only helping out, so you wouldn’t have to do everything yourself. Isn’t that a good thing?”
“Besides, I was only talking to people we both know. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Harold feels right at home for you.”
Of all the people who’d come to celebrate, Ethan only seemed worried about Harold. He didn’t care about anyone else trying to steal his wife.
Isabella looked at him, her tone cool. “Ethan, there’s nothing between Harold and me. Just because you can’t stop thinking about your best friend’s wife doesn’t mean every guy is like you. Not everyone’s got a thing for married women.”
“I’ve barely spoken to Harold, let alone spent any time with him. He comes with Barbara, and usually just sits quietly off to the side. But somehow, in your head, we’re having some secret affair. Your mind is really in the gutter.”
Ethan tried to smooth things over. “Alright, alright, it’s my fault. My mind’s in the gutter. You and Harold are innocent. He doesn’t have any feelings for you.”
“Isabella, Harold actually dated someone in college. The girl’s family wasn’t well-off enough, so his parents didn’t approve, and they broke up. His family is just as picky as mine.”
“Don’t let Samantha’s friendly act fool you either. She’s only nice because there’s no drama right now. If she even suspected Harold liked you, she’d turn on you in a second.”
Isabella just glared at him.
Ethan awkwardly smacked his own lips, then muttered, “I’ll stop. I won’t say another word today.”
He’d keep quiet today, but tomorrow, or the day after, he’d find another chance to bring it up.
Isabella turned and walked away, not even bothering to reply. Ethan trailed after her, step for step, refusing to give her any space.
He clinked glasses with Harold again, trying to urge him to drink up.
“Ethan, I’ve got a meeting this afternoon. If I drink, I won’t be able to focus. You shouldn’t drink so much either. You’ve already been drunk a few times lately.”
Harold still didn’t take a sip. He even reached over and took Ethan’s glass. “We toasted, that’s enough.”
He put Ethan’s glass back on the table.
Ethan stared at him. Harold met his gaze, totally calm.
Jesse, sitting nearby, noticed the tension. He nudged Harold, then quietly said to Ethan, “Ethan, what are you doing? We all drove here. We’ve got to get back to work after lunch.”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
