She had nothing against Isabella, not really. Still, Isabella just wasn’t the daughter-in-law she’d pictured for Harold. She’d literally just told him she’d accept anyone he liked, as long as the family was decent. If she objected now, she’d basically be taking back her own words.
And honestly, she knew Isabella had only gotten caught up in Ethan’s mess. The blame was on Ethan, not her.
After a long pause, Samantha finally spoke. “Harold, give me a minute. My mind’s all over the place right now. I never in a million years thought you’d fall for Isabella.”
She looked at Harold, suspicion in her voice. “It was your idea for Barbara and Isabella to do business together, wasn’t it? You used Barbara as an excuse to get close to Isabella and treat her well.”
Harold shook his head. “Mom, no, that’s not it. Barbara and Isabella just clicked. Their partnership is between them. I never got involved.”
“Isabella’s got a real way with people. She’s friends with more than just Barbara. Even Linda, who’s notoriously hard to get along with, likes her. That says a lot about Isabella’s personality.”
He took a breath. “Mom, since you already figured it out, I won’t hide it. I do like Isabella. I’m not even sure when it happened. I just… started liking her before I realized it.”
Samantha thought about how Isabella had started making a name for herself lately. The little series she’d invested in was turning a profit, and one project had even blown up recently. Barbara said Isabella was about to get a nice payout.
Isabella really was optimistic and driven.
She’d been tricked by Ethan before, pulled right into his schemes, but none of that was her fault. Ethan had played his part so well, pretending to like her. Who could blame a young woman for falling for someone as successful, good-looking, and wealthy as Ethan?
His grandma was ninety. Even if she didn’t like his wife, he could deal with it for a few more years. Her opinion didn’t really stress him out.
“My dad, though…”
What actually worried Harold more was his father’s reaction. His dad was stubborn, not nearly as flexible as his mom. She was the open-minded one.
“That’s your business,” Samantha said. “If you want to be with Isabella, then whatever obstacles come up, you’ll have to figure them out yourselves. Me not getting in your way is already the best I can do.”
Harold grinned. “Thanks, Mom. I knew you’d be way better than Ethan’s mom.”

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Author, please get your characters names right. You always messing them up!...
I wish Harold will win Isabella's heart. I was so sad when Isabela was taken for granted coldly and cruelly by her supposed to be husband, and trapped, mocked and humiliated non stop by Natalie. This was so cruel, both don't deserve Isabela' forgiveness I wish for a happy ending between Isabela and Harold, he has the right to be happy after the long wait....
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
